Not longer than 2 years ago I was on the fence about a diablo in the $115k range. Got cold feet due to maintenance cost concerns. Kicking myself but hind sight 20/20 i guess

A genuine countach was running 50-60k 17 years ago, I know cos I was tempted, bought an apartment instead. Would have done better out of the countach (half a mill upwards now) but couldn't have lived in it lols..

Considering an 06 gallardo with my business partner right now, just for weekends. I'm not as confident in the values as you op, they've gone up a lot last 5 years at the end of the day it's an 11 year old Audi..a decent one in my neck of the woods is upwards of six figures US.

Car market seems nuts right now, over here at least. People just paying stupid money for complete rubbish, one of my mates bosses just bought TWO 17 year old golf gti's.. I mean they're a good car but you wot m8?

Probably going to wait a couple,of years, and if doesn't go down in that time park the idea for a while. With you in the maintenance thing, this is the way to go with any exotic.

I've driven the Huracan.

These cars are a pain in the ass to drive. Not great commuter cars. Everything that makes it cool makes it inconvenient for the driver.

If you hit traffic, this is the worst car to be in heavy traffic.

It would totally be worth owning one if you can live in Germany next to the autobahn, they got banked roads there.

Agree with you on a lot of things here.

I will say 06 Gallardo vs a Superleggera..... while both Gallardos is not a fair comparison.

Absolutely, lol. Of course if the market does tank a bit, all sorts of options might he on the table, particularly with the newer cars, made in far higher volumes now

Isnt it crazy how something that was once $xx can go for 5x that in such a short amount of time? Markets are fickle. All it takes is a couple of Middle Eastern Royals to decide they want XYZ brand car, next thing you know they are going for crazy money.

The thing is I didnt buy the car solely in hopes it will appreciate. I actually love the look and feel of this car. I will enjoy it whether it sky rockets or depreciates like a normal exotic would.

Got it out for the first time in a while the other day when we finally got some sun and snapped this:



For yours, that balloon white (looks to be balloon white anyways) is a great color. For exterior, I'd just update those wheels (looks like old GFG wheels or something) and pretty much leave it alone. Even the gloss black OEM wheels would look sharp.
Then interior wise, LP's are usually pretty stacked. So other than updating the steering wheel to something more fitting, probably be pretty set. Then just sit on it for 3-5yrs while enjoying it some and watch the value climb considerably...

Thats exactly the plan. Put some gloss black hermeras on, take off the vinyl on the lights, upgrade the wheel and just maintain it / enjoy it. If it goes up, great! If it doesnt, no worries, i got to own a v12 car Ive always wanted so i cant complain.

Nice G as well man.

Yep, I blame all these car shows, wheeler dealers, fast and loud etc etc..I'm staying out for the minute because no way am I ever going to be wealthy enough to not worry about depreciation at all. Business partner is trying to convince me on an AMG or 911, but for me it's got to be a lambo or nothing..

As a automobile fanatic, this thread both depresses and excites me. I'm worried about an upcoming $1500 rotor/brake job while you ****** driving lambos.

On the subject of value appreciation. I'm still kicking myself for not buying a few cars that I wanted. I had a family friend willing to sell me a 911 Slant nose 10 years ago for 18k. Things are selling now for 100k.

Very, very nice cars, I like the caymans as well..but they are 'sensible'. Logical. Bought with the head, not the heart, with one eye on reliability, resale, insurance, mpg..

If you have a lambo, what did top gears Richard Hammond say? People will look at you, and say 'there goes chuck yeager Hammond ', the car may blow up, may skid into a ditch, it WILL break down, it WILL cost 2k for an oil change etc etc.. and you don't care.

If you have a lambo, and can afford it, you have made it. End of.
