Any of you brahs that have been to LOTO know how rough it is, like a huge washing machine. Not uncommon for people to bounce/fall out of boats.

10 years ago I was arrested at Party Cove (hot spot at Lake of the Ozarks) for indecent exposure and public intoxication (I was pizzing off the side of the boat and tried running through other people's boats down the line to get away when the cops pulled up).

Anyhow, I remember vividly that they cuffed me, put the life jacket on, then made me sit on the floor not the seat. Also, one cop faced backward keeping an eye on me while the other drove. I told him I must be some kind of special criminal for him to need to stare at me the whole time. He replied, "Nah, but we think there's a 50/50 chance that some drunk idiot like you will jump out of the boat to try and get away, drown, and get us in trouble."

I've been to LOTO 50-60 times and I've never seen them arrest someone and let them sit up in the back like that with no one watching them. If you think regular cops have a bad rep, talk to anyone at LOTO or GLOK about the water patrol. Liquid Nawzees.

I'm willing to bet the cop was cutting some serious turns to throw the kid about and teach him a lesson.

I don't care how rough the water is, you drive to the conditions.

At best it's gross misconduct, but I think everyone suspects it's manslaughter/murder.

The coxsian/captain of any vessel is immediately solely responsible for any passengers safety.

When I was active duty Marines I had a level 4 swim qualification. Dragging a drowning person is no joke especially since they usually struggle and I assume this drunk kid would have been.

I was also stationed at a amphibious assault unit. Requirements for the Corp (cause of unit) was once a year but twice my unit drug us a couple miles out in the ocean, opened the hatches and told us to swim in full fatigues. Boots included no life vest.

Since the cop made an attempt and was super winded I'm guessing he hasn't been tested recently is a fair assessment.

I had advanced life saving certs and life guard certs when a young brah and that's no joke. Our instructor took that very seriously. The final had you attempting to rescue him while he actively and aggressively tried to drown you and some, like the small girls and such, failed. They did pass the course (was for college credits) but did not get the cert. He made it very clear downing people will not behave as you think they will (good old TV again) and will probably grab onto you and shove under water attempting to survive and in a total panic. A correct save of a drowing person is not a pleasant experience for either party and quite rough if done right, but does allow you to lock them in so they can grab you and allows to swim.

Thanks for reminding me. I am 5"10 and when we did swim qual in boot and the drill instructor I drew was a 6'5 dude who lifted.
