Back in high school, benching in the 200s was all the rave, it's when you were considered strong and elite. Dudes going in the 300s and 400s were considered monsters.

I never ever got pass 2 and 1/2 plates when i was at my strongest. Not enough dedication on my part since i thought to myself, "Good enough". The worst.

lol my first 3 plates was done no spotter - silly I know. But I knew I had it easily in the bag, then I kept on going for awhile before I reached my natty strength limit.

3 plates was pretty easy for me but I'm 240lbs.
4 plates is a struggle but I'm close.
What I did for bench gains was bench twice a week.
1st session I do 3x3 ladders so now would be like 315x3, 335x3, 355x3. When you can finish a ladder add weight the next week.
2nd session 4 days later would be 315xmax. I failed on my 10th rep last week.
Afterwards do other chest/tricepts accessory work.
When I was working towards 315 I was doing the same thing but with 225 as a base.
When I worked up to 225x12 reps 315x1 was pretty easy.

315 was a breeze. Hit it for 3x my first try.
455 was my heaviest bench press
Switched to incline bench and dumbbells after that. Flat bench press isn't really a chest exercise, more so it's just a shoulder and tricep workout, and something to brag about.

It wasn't until I wanted to get and stay strong that I got consistent. I benched 315 for the first time in my late 30s.

I just wanted to bench 100lb
One day the gym owner sum juicy strong kunt took pity on me and taught me to powerlift bench. Tfw you put 10lb on your bench in 1hour.
Ever since then i been trying to bench my bw. Im heavy and it's taken a loong time. Did it last month.
80kg is my dreamer goal. I dont expect to ever bench more than that with my monkey arms

I first wanted to start lifting when I seen that video of Ronnie Coleman chest pressing 200lb dumbbells for like 10 reps. At the time I was around 200lbs.. blew my damn mind he was literally pressing my weight in each hand like nothing
I'm almost there now. Benchpressed 180s for 8 reps... Still have a lot of years left to reach that goal!

The closest I got was 300 @ 130lbs in college. Then I got into an accident with perma damage so nowadays I'm struggling to go past 250. 3 plates was definitely a dream goal of mine though.
