Hes an adult now and has to make his own decisions. You cant blame everything on the parents, where is the personal responsibility. It doesnt take a rocket scientist to know that skipping class and failing out of highschool is not a good decision. Nobody needs to be told that.

Look up his school portal to make sure he didn't have any assignments missing. C. He was never a great student. 2.7 but has gone full retard the last year. I'm sure the and God knows what else he's doing is helping
Theres no hope for him. If he ever talks to you again just tell him to pay real good attention to the technique his girlfriend uses when she blows him because when he ends up in prison, his only hope to avoid being shanked is to be some gangbangers bitch. He wont be able to get a man who is high enough on the totem pole to protect him unless he has good blow job skills. You have to figure if he can land a daddy that is in a gang that he should be pretty safe because anyone shanking him or trying to rape him would be viewed as damage/theft of the gang members property and thus an attack on the entire gang.

Why is he going to college, all he is going to do is party and fail out and either you or the taxpayer is going to foot the bill.

That first real breakup is going to be brutal. Don't be surprised if he doubles down on the booze and weed, becomes depressed, etc.

i'm not an advocate for kicking ur kid out. but I get sometimes its the only way to knock some sense into them. I dont have kids of my own so ur judgement is better than mine.

hopefully this will be a reality check for him. but it sounds like you need to have a srs but calm chat with him and just tell him you want the best for him and if he cooperates with you you'll both work on it together. be his friend as well as his dad bro. thats what my dad did with me and I wasnt always a great kid.

Not sure why there is so much hate for OP. From what OP has shared, it sounds like his kid is a little chit (no offense, OP) and there is no reasoning with the kid. He needs to see for himself. OP is just getting tough.

I personally wouldn't have somebody disrespecting me and treating me like chit when all I am doing is trying to help. Much less when I offer to talk it over and they still reject the opportunity to make up.

The kid will quickly learn the he fukked up. It may not be today, tomorrow, this month, or even within this year. But at some point he will either
1. try to make up, try to restore the relationship, and maybe even shape up

2. hold a grudge and become a lowlife, loser.

Either way, he will know he fukked up and it would be an active choice to end up at choice #2 over pride. He knows you would help him succeed if he just straightens up.

OP, your son sounds a lot like me. I acted like this and was just a complete dick to everyone, my family, friends, girlfriend at the time. Nothing stopped until I had hit a complete bottom. Your son will hit his eventually.

Also, don't go thinking the military is the best advice being given ITT. I know plenty of ****s in the military who just turn out to be as big of failures as they were before they joined. He's got to want to change.

I like how the misc equates bad behavior with bad parenting....Kids are not robots. You can spend vast amounts of time being the best parents and your kids can still end up as sh**s.

My parents were d*mn near the best parents a person could have and I was a train wreck from 16-23. Was it my parents fault? No...I went off the rails and didn't follow any of their teachings or advice. I was taught right and did wrong. Good parents/bad son.

Just because a kid is being a sh** does not necessarily mean poor parenting was involved....and yes there are loads of awful parents who are to blame.

He’s 18, of course he’s a dumbass. I’m all for being a strict father, but I think you took it too far OP. The likelihood that this will be a wake up call that puts him back on the path to being a fine upstanding citizen is pretty low.

If he’s not ready for the future, that’s YOUR FAULT. Congrats on being a ****ty father.

At this point, it’s too late for him to learn how to be a man from you. Seriously think your best bet is to try and convince him to join the military.

OP is an honest-to-godshtfather.

Reminder: You brought him into this cruel, awful world. You selfishly forced him into this existence.

Therefore, it is your duty to buy himanythingthat he pleases, whether it's the latest Xbox, the latest Alienware PC's, a new car, it does not matter. Invite him back to the house. Build him a new room. Buy him a mini-fridge. Buy him a pool table. Cook and clean for him (or at least get mom to do it) let him have parties. Let him bring his girlfriend. You mustpaythe price for exposing him to this bitter, cruel, degenerate world. End of story. This idea that you just turn "18" and now like magic you are kicked out on the street like a dog.

Rubbish.

that right there shows the extent of your ego. you are trying to say his curiosity is a trait that makes him a unruly child. Who gives a chit if the kid wants to burn himself or not? are you that wrapped up that he should be obeying your every command? sounds like the apple didn't fall too far from the tree and maybe you should just stop for a moment to think "I made this child" im sure like many fathers you were flooded with emotions at his birth but now after years of playing jedi power battles you forgot everything that went through your mind at the time. Also dont forget why he's even here, because you and your wife wanted 10 minutes of fun and now you dont wangt to clean the mess because "my house my rules". great job OP you are doing just fine

A lifetime of bad parenting can do this. You seem to be the type of parent to only focus on "my rules or else" mentality. You probably constantly throw down demands on this or that, and act like you know everything. I've known many parents like you, and the way your child grew up is exactly because of you. The problem? You think telling people what to do is parenting, but the things you say doesn't match the actions you do.

If you want to fix this you're going to have to go from the ground up and learn some humility- your bratty kid learned all his behaviors from you.

I don't think blame should be on the parent.. Me personally, my dad lets me do what I want, and for the most part always has. This is because I actually want to live a good positive life with a great career, and won't risk doing stupid things to mess that up. (Also I actually care about my body in terms of no smoking/extremely rarely drink) If YOU as a person don't want a good life, why should that be the parents fault? His kid is a loser from the sounds of it with no aspirations

Now me saying blame shouldn't be on the parent is of course circumstantial, I don't know how this guy has been.. I mean asking misc for parenting advice is a bit of an example of how he is though lmao. If it's simply carelessness that has let the kid do all of this chit, then refer to my above paragraph. If it's some form of "abuse" then that's a different story

ive been kicked out 2 times, last time my father gave me a few hunnids and told me to go. eventually i had to go back and they took me back in.

have u ever talked to him about what hes going thru or do u just discipline and react when he acts up?

my advice: leave the door open for him.
