I could see buying a Vette that's 8-10 years old as long as its mileage is on the lower end. Imagine its fairly straightforward maintenance wise.

I drive my dads 08 750i when I visit in AZ, and it definitely holds up in looks and performance, but what he has to pay for anything little like a new TPM makes me want to light it on fire.

Legit laughed when some dude in a mint jeep tj was impressed by it, because that's probably a pretty even trade.
They got little baby legs that stand so low

Just for curiosity. How much do you guys pay for each TPM?

I seem them for 40-70 USD each. It's quite cheap I'd say.

I'm really trying to understand why guys in US say BMW's have expensive maintenance. Labor, parts, what is it? If you can give examples, I'd appreciate it.

I bought a 2011 BMW 1 series 2.0l for 15,000.. the thing is top notch, installed the enhanced timing chain myself and now I have a damn nice car with a combination of extras/interior/performance you'd never get from a 15,000euro 2017 built car


And just LMAO at recent down-sized turbo engines, those things drain your wallet real quick and will hardly make it to 170,000km at all.

Don't worry they don't. These guys are just hating because they can't afford the prestige of owning a brand new luxury car and all the perks that come with it. Got a flat tire. Don't worry the BMW dealership will come pick it up to fix it for free. They will leave you a luxury rental if you need it in the meantime.

It's both, Mechanics that know how to work on them are more rare and so are the parts.

Some people look at cars as something they can enjoy and have fun driving from A to B rather than a financial investment. I had a 1999 996 911 for 2 years and loved it. Went 172mph and drifted all over the place. Amazing car. Sold it 2 years later for the same price and didn't have to do any maintenance in that time besides oil changes. Can't wait to buy a 997 here in the near future

I think its smart to buy a used car that's 1 years old even if you can afford a new one. It's the best of both worlds in my opinion. You save some money and you have a great warranty. That's my philosophy after buying a brand new car a long time ago.
