I join the AM crew every few months for a month or so...Can confirm GOAT time to lift as far a traffic and etiquette...Rough schedule though for sure (for me anyway) as I feel I don't get enough rest...

also if I miss my alarm by <30min I feel I won't have enough time so I just skip. (probably could still get a workout in but C O P E)

Another thing is I've strained my lower back more than once lifting in the AM by just being lazy and not bracing properly for lifts...figure it's just lack of focus or fatigue. (Most recent was squatting. Warming up - bar 3 sets, 135 2 sets, 185 strain back lmao, out for 3 days)

Last excuse is I feel I stick to a diet better doing IF...AM lifting make that very difficult. Feeding window of 6am-2pm nothxjeff.

Kudos to you brahs with the discipline and drive to keep that sort of schedule...honestly mirin.

In. Home gym + early lifting goat setup. Set the alarm for 4:55 and pretty much walk straight into the gym

I considered doing IF, but like you said AM lifting makes it pretty inconvenient. Proper warmup is critical in the morning. I always make sure I'm up at least 1 hour before I'm touching weights and I've been moving around. I don't squat first in my workouts anymore either. I do it 3rd in rotation and it's been much better.

I have to leave gym at ~5:45am to make it to work on time, so I'm up at 3:30-3:45 and start lifting at 4-4:15...Wake>Preworkout>Drive to gym>Lift ha...finish around 5:20-5:30, shower, leave...usually pack a shake and some sort of carbs to eat on the drive to work...if I was on that 9-5 time I'd lift in the AM no question...also I swear if I'm doing legs I always have to poo at some point during workout. Never fails

Lmao was talking about this with a friend recently.

While I don't think pre-workout really does much (yeah its caffeine and yeah maybe I get a bigger pump) I just love the feeling of sipping down a preworkout right before I leave the house. It tells my mind and body "it's fuking go time!!!"

Even if its all placebo, its worth it to me.

This is how I am too. I hate coffee, its disgusting. The smell alone makes me want to vomit. I know I'm basically impervious to caffeine due to years of abuse, but Pre is basically just part of the morning ritual. It's 100% all mental.

Hope everyone is off to a good week. My weekend was crap, lots of stress at home..........woke up today feeling a little under the weather but still got chest done. I swear I've been sick since December.

Checking in. Still not setting alarm, this flu has been the worst I can ever remember having. Been sleeping 8-9 hours every day and still tired... Been a battle!

Off today. Doing some intervals on the fan bike as we speak, then a yoga vids. The yoga has made my knee pain vanish - I assume my tight calves were to blame.

I've read up a lot on calf tightness causing knee pain. I've been trying to get my ankle/calf mobility better as well.

Crew checking in. Up at 5:30. Walked 1.5m with the dogs, did Yoga. Today's Yoga vid was all about hip mobility - I've realized from doing these vids that my hips are EXTREMELY tight (desk job problems) so it was good to really thrash them.

Going to mix back in the lifting starting tomorrow. International Leg Day boyos. Been doing 225 for higher rep schemes and loving it.

Up at 5am, walked dogs, coffee then garage gym by 6am.

Been strictly doing yoga for a few weeks, finally ready to mix some lifting back in.

I always get DOMS bad on legs if I haven't done them in a while, but screw it - hit a 10x10 on squats. Gonna be crawling tomorrow but NO FUKKEN SLACK boyos!

^^ lol......doing legs after that much time off is brutal no matter what, but you decide to do 10 sets of squats. Mrs Bourbon gonna be carrying you up the steps to bed....

Had a good lift this AM. Still fighting a cold I've had for about 7 weeks. I don't feel sick, just lots of nasal drip/coughing/hacking up chit. Hopefully not dying.

Superset it with 10x10 on the EZ bar to keep things bro. Low weight, high reps, minimal rest, got a good sweat going.

Hate that lingering cold feeling. I've had about 3 weeks now where no matter how much I blow my nose it's like "I gotta make some more snot". Hopefully mucus production takes a lot of calories, brb cutting in my sleep.

Up at 5:30 every day so far this week. Need to get back to 5am. Yesterday deads with curls, and today was yoga and more pullups.

Shorter lift sessions yesterday and today, needed some time to pay bills/life maintenance chit. Cut into the workouts but still good feeling to kill that stuff first thing in the am. Driving to work with important stuff already crossed off, das it.

Up at 5:30. Walked dogs 1 mile, coffee, lift

Bike 10m
Deads 305x5 (work set)
Rows
Ez bar curls

Short work out this morning - had some life maintenance bills etc to tackle this am. But hitting work this morning with home life squared away.

Sticking point on deads is my grip - i didn't dead for a few weeks and it's gone. Ive hit 4 plates for a solid single mix grip, but really want to get it with match grip. Bummed at the light today but w/e... Next week we add ten pounds and go again, right dudes?

Struggled to get out of bed this morning... then did an accidental deadlift PR, meant to load up 420lb for my heaviest pull, was tired and gassed from previous set and accidentally loaded 440lb - pulled it ok but was red AF and had to have a sit down lel. Was stoked when I realised what I'd done.

Congrats man!! Big PRs are very hard in the AM and I don't think I've actually tried a 1RM that early. props!

Been a good week of training, I've been consistent, but getting ready to really turn up the intensity in about 2 weeks........

Woke up at 530 am to work out for the first time ever. I need to sleep earlier or something, it was rough. Do you all eat before or after an early workout?

Switched back to AM this week...Feel so much better. It became kind of a chore hitting the gym after work. So many fuking people. Soyboys in their neon dryfits, Douchebags congregating around the dumbells, sl00ts all over the benches doing plyo work. Too much chit going on. I missed being around the older seasoned lifters, and the people just trying to get a decent workout in before heading to work. No fuss, get it, and go. Although I have been falling asleep earlier, but I can't complain because my sleep has been GRRRRRREAT.

It will take about a month of consistency for your body to fully adapt. I wake up at 4AM with minimal trouble, and not sleeping a ton either.

I've done it both ways, I've done empty stomach and I've done a small snack. I've found empty stomach is better for me. I train better and don't feel as sluggish. I definitely slam pre workout though.

So a bunch of miscers?

Glad to have you with us man! I also noticed my sleep drastically improved after getting up early. I used to toss and turn for hours because I lifted at 5PM. Now I'm passing out by 930 on the couch some nights.

So a bunch of miscers?

Glad to have you with us man! I also noticed my sleep drastically improved after getting up early. I used to toss and turn for hours because I lifted at 5PM. Now I'm passing out by 930 on the couch some nights.
Lmao basically. They're always on their phones making threads no doubt. Man...I passed out at 9-ish only to be awakened by a voice telling me to go to bed, but I got up this morning like I was shot out of a cannon.

lol been there many times. 60% of the time I don't get to bed until 1030 or so, but the rest I'm usually passing out on the couch while watching a movie.

I set my week up wisely. I train Sunday-Monday-Tuesday-Thurs-Friday. So no more than 2 days in a row of 4am wake ups, and I get the break in the middle of the week to sleep in a bit. It definitely helps. I remember when I was cutting I was training 6x a week and it was grueling. Probably going to get back to that soon however .

I'd like to split my training like that, but since I work in the States and live in Canada I'd have to get two gym memberships, so I'm stuck on M-F during the winter...In the warmer months I'll throw in some light cardio like a hike or something on the weekends. You kind of slowed down posting lifting vids on IG...I liked them because they gave me some alternative lifts to incorporate into my routine.
