I have always skipped a generation of consoles. The biggest wow for me was going from NES to N64 with the 3d world. Yes the graphics were better when I would play my buddy's dreamcast and when I got my ps3, but the jump from 2d to 3d was the biggest for me

mario 64 and Goldeneye for me. The first NBA2k on playstation was also ridiculous at the time. I remember the fluidity and cut scenes just blew anything else out of the water.

Tekken, Mortal Kombat, Crash Bandicoot, Super Mario, old-school spiderman , Tony Hawk's Underground, DBZ, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and Vice City...those were some good times.

I remember when I got Code Veronica for Dreamcast. My body wasn't ready. Still one of the best intros in gaming history. The graphics were so hnnnggg

Best quality I could find, I know X wasn't for Dreamcast

Brah's have already mentioned:

-FFX
-MGS2
-MGS4
-GTAIII

I wish to add:

-MGS1
-Shadow of the Colossus
-FFVII and then
-FFVIII even moreso - Those cutscenes were groundbreaking. It was the first time that video game characters looked real in my eyes.

N64 and NFL QB Club 1995. I remember seeing it in Electronics Boutique (EB Games) on demo and being amazed (I was 5 y/o). I begged my grandma to get it for me for Christmas.

My older brother got a CD32 when I was a kid and there was this game called Liberation, we used to sit and watch the intro cinematic in awe thinking how sick the gfx were. Looks like utter chit now.

But goldeneye n64 was the goat 90s console game

Call of Duty 2 was the first game where I was actually like, "holy fuk these graphics are incredible". I mean I played N64 and Xbox and stuff and even SNES before that, but my mind wasn't blown until HD graphics and CoD2.

First time seeing CoD2 running on Xbox 360 in a bestbuy my mind was blow.

I first was introduced to games on the SNES, but when I played this game on the n64 I thought it was the pinnacle of graphics and gaming

I had all consoles from master system/nes/n64/ps1/ps2/xbox/360/gamecube etc and the first console to ever give me that HOLY **** GRAPHICS WAS perfect dark on the Xbox 360. It truly changed all graphics for me and was a massive step upwards

It wasn't the first solidly rendered game as there were flight simulators etc a year or two before, but this blew my mind in 1992

http://youtu.be/qATaCWHLAxw

It was such a quantum leap I thought we'd be in VR in a decade. Of course, it doesn't work like that, every 'leap' forward since has left me lukewarm (slight exception ps1 and dreamcast, but haven't played a game since)

First games were super mario bros and doom. First time I was blown away by graphics was with crysis (but wasen't for the mainstream). Witcher 3 was the first main stream game where I taught games look even better then real life.

The best game changing games:

1.) Half Life, and all episodes. Gravity gun of piss...

2.) Golden Eye 64

3.) Far Cry series

4.) GTA ... every single one.

5.) Medal of Honor games

6.) Soldier of Fortune Double Helix.... legit craziest violence I'd ever seen. You could blow or hack off limbs and heads.

SPLINTER CELL CHOAS THEORY.... still one of the best stealth games of all time.

I haven't had an experience like that since. Graphics have of course evolved, but the scope of HALO blew my mind like nothing else, because I had never seen anything like it in a game.
Although I had many systems before this Halo 1 is the reason I got seriously into gaming. The game was just mind blowing. Dreamcast and N64 were my go tos growing up but I remember going to my uncles and he had an xbox and Halo 1 and after playing I begged for it for Christmas. Then Halo 2 came out and it was all I ever did after school. I even joined Halo2forums . com and became a regular on their forums for years. Loved the series, sad bungie is chit now

Considering I had pretty much every gaming platform growing up, or access to it from neighbors (Sega, Nintendo, Coleco Vision, C64 and 128 etc), it still took the opening of Half Life in mid to late 1999 (I can't exactly remember when) on my Riva TNT 2 Ultra and Trinitron monitor to really blow me away, graphics wise.

Halo 1 is the goat. If i could play that on PC with today's graphics i wouldn't play another game. It's simply the best game ever if you ask me.

NFL QB was a pretty game with good resolutions and detail. It also had a baseball game. NFL QB club did niot come out in 95 though. Fall of 97 if memory serves

Final Fantasy VII blew my mind when I first saw it, especially the cinematics. Huge leap between from the SNES Final Fantasy games to the those on the Playstation. Of course, the graphics from the PS1/N64 era aged horribly compared to those on the SNES or PS2 era, but at the time they seemed pretty damn amazing.
