Thanks. I like to know how things work so I'm totally cool putting it together. I'd give it to my brother in law before I sold it.

Yes.

Buy a good one.

Unless by "starter" AR you mean you'll buy it and 200 rounds of ammo and in the rest of your life never shoot through that 200 rounds of ammo because you just want it to say you own an AR and not to really use it, in which case, get a S&W M&P 22 and most people won't know the difference hehe

This plus a lower.

Edit: The rifle in the OP is a couple of hundred dollars more, and has a better barrel, and probably a lighter rail.

PSA does a lot of things "cheaply"

That's...not how it would work.

But there won't be a ban so it doesn't matter*

GawDam libs going to make me buy another AR I don't need just for investment purposes.

Question.....If the unlikely chance they do ban ARs do you think it will be the entire assembly or just the lower? If just the lower, obviously, that's what will be worth the $$$.

Unlikely is right, a ban with Republicans in both the Senate and House just won't happen. Not now anyway.

There's no telling what a theoretical future restriction will look like. But, only the lower is serialized and only the lower is legally considered a firearm, that wouldn't change easily

How do the parts in OP stack up against the Daniel Defence brand? A cop buddy of mine turned me onto those, and I can afford it, but also like the idea of learning and building myself. I only own an m&p shield for self defence, so not too knowledgable on long guns. Is it diminishing returns to own the more expensive brand?

$250 for a complete AR pistol kit, minus the lower. Another $45 for an 80% lower

DD makes a great rifle. Many of their rifles come stock with an upgraded trigger and cold hammer forged barrel.

You're definitely paying a premium for their brand though, and an 11% tax on the parts.

Going to buy my first AR-15 within a couple weeks. 1k budget and looking to buy a complete rifle as I’m inexperienced, however I’m sure I’ll learn how to build one in the future. I have been doing some research and can’t wait to figure everything out.

No, and with recent Shenanigans I don't expect them to be available at that old $700-something price

This one's pretty decent given the current environment, and doesn't require tools to add the furniture:
