I'd say the Yamaha FZ07



My friend owns one and I rode one a few times as well. It's a great bike, I originally started off with a Ninja 250r and I got bored of that quickly. The FZ07 is a perfect bike if you want something fun, you definitely wont get bored of it. It starts off around $7000 but you get used for a much better deal (like always). I do recommend starting off on a smaller bike though to be honest

I started off on a Kawi 500cc and moved up to a CBR 650F. Love my bike. I considered a naked bike but do too much highway riding to go without front fairings.

In regards the FZ-07, the frame looks small to me when I spot someone riding one. A bit of a turn off tbh.

Why you looking so new? I appreciate that you are taking the misc's advice and going noob friendly, but the people trying to push you to a more advanced bike are also right about you getting bored.

Get a few year old bike post depreciation ride it for a few months and move on.

Then you can buy a new baby and have a lot more options on the table. With the knowledge of what you like.

This is so far what i'm looking at for gear. Thoughts? Keep in mind i live in Houston and its always hot, so i don't want to be sweating my ass off. But I still want good protection so if you can think of better options, it would be appreciated.

not too bad. with the price of those pants though, id go perf leather jacket and some riding jeans. prob end up being the same cost. JMO though.

youd still get good airflow with the perforated leather jacket and the style/protection (and cheaper) with a riding jean. 320 for some mesh pants is ridiculous to me.

Like i said though OP, its just my opinion. if you agree with it then go for it.

More protection for the same if not less cost. if you can live with being a pube hair hotter in summer. since you have nothing to compare it to you probably wont even mind

edit: make sure you purchase the nucleon chest/back protector separately as they dont come with the jacket.

Get a cheaper helmet. Unless it has some amazing tech like a heater/cooler/Bluetooth etc there's no need for an expensive helmet.

The sad fact is that all a better helmet is going to do is keep you alive longer so they have more time to harvest your organs. Just Google DOT/SNELL TBI and do some research before purchasing a helmet. Yes I realize it's morbid as **** but everyone that rides a motorcycle should know what they're getting into

dont skimp out on a decent helmet. most crashes are low speed and thats when a helmet plays its biggest role. padding/wind noise is key in higher end helmets. i had a chit speed and strength $100 dollar helmet and its loud as hell inside and uncomfortable due to minimal padding.

Before I delve into it, you don't have to listen to anything I say and you can buy whatever you want. I just wanna say I highly suggest you read up on a bunch of people's crash stories whether it's on motorcycle forums, reddit, or wherever. Reading them will give you enough knowledge to determine which gear is adequate enough to protect you in an actual crash. "Dress for the slide, not the ride".

Helmet:
Shoei RF-1200, great choice. You still have to go and try one on to see if it fits your headshape though. Only bad thing about Shoei helmets is how much of a ripoff their transitions face shield is. Some helmets have it included such as the Bell Qualifier DLX helmet and it's only $250. The shoei transitions face shield is like $160 ish?

Boots:
Not a fan of riding shoes because they offer pretty shiet protection. You need a proper boot if you wanna actually protect your shin and prevent your foot from twisting or hyper-extending your ankle. I know most people don't wanna look like power rangers but those boots offer the best protection. I highly advise you to get a proper boot. Lemme know if you need some recommendations if you end up going this route.

Gloves:
Also not a fan of short riding gloves. Not NEARLY as good protection as a gauntlet glove. Your wrists are super delicate and those gloves won't do anything to protect them. Also, if you fall down going at a decent speed, most likely the impact will cause your jacket sleeve to ride up and you'll have a nice area exposed for bad road rash. You don't gotta listen to me, take it from the people who have crashed while wearing short gloves and swore to never wear one again over a gauntlet. In a lot of crashes our first instinct is to put our hands in front of us so I would also look for a glove with palm sliders. The last thing you want is for your palm to get caught and rip open your glove. That's more likely to happen in higher speed accidents but it could happen going 20mph if you got some shiet gloves.

Jacket:
I would avoid mesh gear. You can go for a textile jacket with the armor. That should give you adequate protection for your type of riding. Leather jackets obviously provide you with the best protection but the textile will hold up just fine since you won't be crashing at very high speeds and they breathe better than leather obviously. If money is not an issue and you're okay with being a little hot in stop and go traffic go with a leather jacket.

The alpinestars jacket you posted is a solid choice if you have the money for it. If you want something cheaper but still very good quality, the ICON hyper sport prime jacket is a good bang for buck option.https://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/...t-prime-jacket

Pants:
Too expensive for what you're getting. I would go with riding jeans (some have up to 6 seconds of slide) and the armor on hips and knees. That's probably your best bang for buck option. If you want some really nice textile pants the Dainese New Drake air is a great option (still expensive) but solid pants. Leather is obviously the best option but I don't expect casual street riders to buy them especially in areas where it's very hot.

Hey Bros, I went to a place called cycle gear yesterday and tried on a bunch of stuff. Jackets, boots, and gloves.

I’m going to go ahead and buy my boots and gloves because my training class has a requirement to wear any kind of boots or high top shoes and gloves for the class, and I figured instead of buying a random pair of each for just the class, I’ll go ahead and buy the boots and gloves I’m going to use as my gear.

I already know I’m going to get the alpine stars SMX-1R vented boot, but I was trying on a bunch of different alpine stars gloves and even then I’m not sure which ones I want to get. I was thinking the SMX-1 Air glove.

Anybody have any feedback on gloves and what you would recommend?

got a buyer for my bike. pretty much got what i paid for it. now i just need to find the next h2r for sale in my area.

i have mesh and leather gloves, the leather ones never get worn because they are so sweaty.

related to that I saw a post above you were looking for jeans. cycle gear has a brand called street and steel and they make armored kevlar stretchy jeans for cheap. Some other places do too but these look and fit pretty well. They discontinued the model I have but they still sell the oakland ones which look a little on the skinny side but ok. Stretchy jeans are mandatory imho, 1000 times more comfortable.

I agree with the other guy, get some Kevlar jeans. Tex/mesh jackets are nice in the summer for air flow but don't go down on one at speed.

I like higher coverage boots personally.

Use money saved on the lid to get better gloves, thinking higher up the A* line. Your hands are very likely to come in contact with the ground and the impact/roll can fuk stuff up bad.H2R? you joking? Track use only but there is one YouTube guy that made his street legal. The guy squids it up too.

I use the a* sp2 v2 and theyre nice and not overpriced. i think they even have a higher model, if you end up saving on the helmet.

I think you should drop this requirement. Just get something beginner friendly now and in a year or two you can replace it with something else. The problem with trying to buy something you won't get bored of is that you can't predict what you will want a year from now. I buy a new (or used) motorcycle every few years just cause I get bored and want to try something new and there are hundreds of bikes out there and I want to try as many of them as I can.

cant go wrong. my buddy bought one a week after i got my 09. We swap rides occasionally, its a fun ass bike and way more forgiving than the 09.

Just finished my msf brc and I was surprised to find out I got a 100% on the riding evaluation. feels good man. Going To get my license and go look at dealerships asap.

I did stall the bike a **** ton though. And it would constantly make me nervous throughout the whole course that I would stall so I think it made it worse for me since I was paranoid about getting called out for it. That was the only problem I had throughout the course though.I’m definitely going to practice in a parking lot on clutch control when I buy my bike, but I feel I wouldn’t have much a problem on another bike as I did with this training bike I was on.

At the dealership finalizing my ninja 400 purchase. They are able to deliver it today too. Wouldn’t want to ride an unfamiliar bike on a crazy freeway before getting used to it.

First, you can buy a 300cc bike, ride it for a year, and sell it for the same price you paid for it basically.

Second, they're still really fun. I have no idea why people think these are boring.

Didn't read through entire thread although I'm sure its' been mentioned. I wouldn't go lower than a 600 brah. Srs. You will get bored of a 250 or 300 in a month.
