Or maybe you can pull off a 15, 20, 30+ year monogamous relationship without issue but you'd be the exception to the rule

Lol what do you do if you need support one day but it's also the one day your WIFE goes to her weekly slop & pop? Do you stay at home alone or go to your side chicks?
The FIRST time that happens chit is over. There will be a time when one of you needs support and the other won't be there. Putting yourself in a position where there will always be someone else to pick up that slack is DOOMING the relationship. It's like inviting every orbiter to take swings until they hit a home run.

In my mind, open relationships are more about acknowledging that monogamy rarely works in the long term.
The “old” way of thinking is that you’re supposed to be 100% committed only to this one partner, and if you stray then something is wrong with you. If someone does stray then it’s hidden, it comes to light, feels are hurt, and either the people work through it or they split and continue the cycle.
The open relationship is a product of the following generation who has seen that everyone who can stray strays, so how can it mean something is wrong with the people who do it? They’ve seen that monogamy doesn’t work, so instead of pretending it does and then failing, they’re acknowledging it at the front end and rolling with the punches from there.
In reality it doesn’t change much, people have been sleeping around while in relationships since the dawn of time. Open relationships are a way of accepting that, not hiding it, and trying to deal with it

The advent of birth control, on-demand abortion, no-fault divorce, the welfare state, the deliberate assault on Christianity by cultural marxists, and overall cultural rot from Hollywood and Madison Ave. has created the mess we have now.
Social media has made it easier to engage in these behaviors, and a presidency that enthusiastically promoted these behaviors from 2008-2016 as "normal" has made it even worse.
There is going to be a helluva bill to pay for all of this. Society can't be a free-for-all where everybody just does whatever hedonistic thing they want to do, or it will collapse (e.g. The Roman empire).

Open relationship crew here.
It really depends on the person/people involved. Humans are wired to be monogamous, but naturally there are always going to be anomalies. I wasn't into open relationships until I met my current partner, and I'm secure enough in myself that it doesn't bother me as long as he tells me when he's going to sleep with someone else. I love him enough to want him and urge him to be who he is, which is a non-monogamous creature. I've also slept with other people and told him beforehand, so it's a two-way street.
Basically, if you're okay with it, and the other person is 100% on board, it works.
It takes a special kind of person to be truly honest with themselves and their partner as to whether they can handle an open relationship. It's not for most people, but for some it really works. I've always been monogamous, but it took me being in this relationship to find that this was exactly what I was missing from other relationships. Freedom. I don't like being tied down to one person, though I'm not out actively searching for other partners outside of my primary partner. If the time is right and I meet someone I want to be physical with, I let my partner know and I make sure I'm using protection, and everything is great. Just having the option is liberating, and won't lead to resentment or feelings of being stuck.
Myself and my partner still sometimes get jealous, but we talk about it and say, "hey, I'm feeling this way, just letting you know," and we give each other a bit of reassurance or just spend a bit more time together to feel better. All in all, it works for us because we're wired the same way. Most people are NOT wired like myself and my primary partner.

He sleeps around and you think not getting upset about it is a virtue? Guess what, if he sleeps around and lets you sleep around, you don't mean very much to him. Your "relationship" has an expiration date.

I actually think this happens way more than people think. I suspect there are a lot of marriages where one side or both look the other way and accept affairs.
Btw when married people mention that "marriage is hard work" or having "worked through problems" etc they are sometimes talking about cheating/affairs. It's just usually covered up and kept between the couple.

This is not a special evolved way of thinking. This is a selfish way to take everything you can while concocting a fantasy world where you have evolved emotions and enlightenment.

It's not for me. To be honest I dont care that much about sex and never have.
I don't really mind people having open relationships at all thought. So some girl wants to get railed by tons of guys and found a dude who enjoys being cuckolded... so what? Let them get each other off however they want to get off, it's none of your fukin business.
It's pretty clear to me that the people who are obsessed with not being cucked are either insecure as a hell or have some fantasy of being cucked.

imagine being in an open relationship, its a friday night and you are staying home, but your wife is getting dolled up in front of you, picking out her best outfit, bra, thong, preparing her vajayjay to get pounded. You just sit there being ok with it while jamal opens her hole 8 inches in diameter.

I think they're good for a small subset of people, but a lot of people probably get sucked into it by partners and it doesn't work for them due to jealousy. If you're the type of person who worries about a girl's past, or worries about her guy friends or who she's texting then an open relationship would be pretty bad for you.
The other problem is that you'd have a handful of men ****ing all the women and all the other men getting cucked. So you had better be attractive to enter it as a man.

No fukking way Jose! I have no interest in sharing my man and I also am completely monogamous by nature. If I'm into someone enough to want to be with them and have sex with them, I'm not interested in anyone else. Not to mention all the STD's out there, no thx Jeffrey!
I think it's pretty rare for it to work out and work out long term. IMO, if people want to have sex with multiple people, they should just stay single and have at it. Take DesiredUser**** for example. I don't understand his lifestyle, but at least he's honest about it and up front with his girls. There's no lying or sneaking around and it's giving them the opportunity to decide for themselves if it's ok with them. I highly respect people who are honest with their intentions.

The only way I see it working is if the "open" means they might have group sex with other trusted couples. "Wife swapping," so to speak. If it's one of those 'anything goes' things where you can just fuk all the time you know the female will always be copping tons and tons of d!ck, and the guy will get some smashes in but at a far higher cost of time and effort.
And even the occasional swinging would be weird for me. I don't trust women (or people in general, really) as it is. To bring that element into a relationship would only make it worse. Fuk dat. "Open relationship" just seems like a fancy way of saying "codependent fuk buds."
