I don't even believe that atheism makes more sense, are that atheist are smarter, or better (because we are not) I just personally don't believe. That simple.

Agreed, I don't go out of my way to bash anyones religion, and have done my share in calling out militant atheist posts. Threads like this are just baiting, so a gaggle of like minded people can virtue signal and profess to one another how much better they are.

Such as monogamy, family structure, anti- ****philia, charity, ten commandments etc. An atheist society would not have come up with it on their own without the influence of religion. Their laws would be based off primal thought, instinct. How do we know having sex with minors would be illegal? Or cheating on your spouse would be frowned upon? Or society supporting two parent households? Or giving to charity? There is no way to know. You don't have to believe in God and that's never how I would base my argument on. I would base it on results. And clearly a society of moderate Judeo-Christian people has had the best result so far. An atheist would rather live in a moderate religious society than in an atheist society, guaranteed.
Didn't Mohammed marry a 13 year old or something? I kept my comment pretty agnostic but for the record I believe society would get along fine without religion. Charity and being a good person in general are not exclusive to religion

It's on the rise still. At least here. It's just that Atheism has become so normal that people don't feel the need to label or talk about it.

Some Mormon's came to my house a couple weeks ago and asked to talk about it. I said I'm not religious and they asked me if any of my neighbours might be interested. I said people up here aren't really religious anymore and they just Bert stared me. Pretty funny.

I would say I'm neither. I'm atheist because there have been thousands of religions throughout history and, given the similarities between them, the only reasonable thing to draw from that information is that people like to invent religion and people like to believe fake religion. We know for a fact that the overwhelming majority of religious people throughout history have followed a fake religion. They can't all be right. Yet every religious person thinks their religion is the exception. It's comical.

Sure you can. Non-existence proofs are commonplace in mathematics. You usually go about proving them by assuming the entity does exist, and arriving at a contradiction. For example,

Statement: There does not exist a smallest positive real number.

Proof: Assume there does exist a smallest positive real number. Call this z. The number (z/2) is both a real number and > 0. It is also less than z, so we have found a positive real number less than z, a contradiction. We conclude there does not exist a smallest positive real number.

Simply responding to the claim "you can't prove something doesn't exist", with a bona-fide proof of non-existence.

Your statement is entirely different. I personally don't even like the word "prove" being used outside of the scope of mathematics and logic...empirical-type statements are not proved, so to speak.

The fact is that religious people think that the absence of proof against the existence of their god is a reason to believe in it. It isn't hard to prove sorrydemonstratehow devoid of reasoning that sort of thinking is.

Atheism isn't a movement and never was. Before social justice was a thing the far-left liked to hate on christians under the banner of atheism. Truth is that very few atheists are SJWs but most SJWs are atheists. In the current political climate those same annoying atheists are now acting under the banner of social justice. It's also because they think it's not politically correct to criticise islam.

I used to listen to the atheist experience podcast years ago, it used to be pretty good, lots of talk about science and separation of church and state, very libertarian. Then some lesbian SJWs started hosting and every episode became rants against conservatives, capitalism, you name it.

There is misunderstanding here. I am not making any comments about the validity of the above line of thinking. I am simply responding to a claim that "you can't prove non-existence" with a specific proof of non-existence. That's all.

I was just messing around. Having said that, I don't like your example. It's like saying "You can prove non-existence because you can prove that the letter ~ doesn't exist in the Latin alphabet." You are ignoring or failing to recognize the context of the other poster's statement. Time to step out of your math bubble. This is coming from someone who studied 3 years of math.

All interesting topics that people care about and wonder about got censored.

It's the death cycle of every board I've been on.

People who wonder about race issues, sexual ones, etc will wonder if religion is real too. If you chase these people off then interesting topics die.

I don't know where the good convos are being held these days though.

The idea that supernatural forces guided our lives was replaced by the idea that philosophies and economics could. Almost no one believes that something like Communism or Capitalism will transform the world now. So, it seems that people now believe that unlimited individual freedoms will create happiness.

Religion created chaos, because it's lies.
Economic systems created chaos, because they are lies.
And ideas like gender don't exist, trans people are normal, homosexuals are normal, family isn't necessary, etc are lies and they will create chaos, and are.

we can also thank Christianity for the inquisition, burning people at the stake, the crusades, countless other wars, and slow downing the progression of science by ~500 years

Western societies morals are not founded on Christianity, they are founded on not being dicks.
