-Cross border payments, because we can write to a database without freezing it with block chain technology. Whereas using swift or an ACH, we have to lock the database, write to it, and then unlock it so others can write to it from other places around the globe.
In a nutshell, any and all coins are virtually useless - in that they have no inherent value other than the time and electricity (CPU power that went into deriving them). The volatility in BTC makes it damn near useless as a day to day currently, and until that volatility goes away it will not be a widely accepted currency. If you can't understand this, you're an idiot.
That being said: there will be a massive crash in the sector, and a very strong consolidation amongst the coins that survive the rash. I have hope in the future that the volatility dies down, and at which point we can start using as an alternative to fiat currency. Until, you're gambling. Expect to lose it all.

That said I love this bear market I'm making more swing trading than the prices are going down. The ironic part about the community is you don't HODL when its a bear market you acquire more from the weak hands and you HODL in bull markets when the increasing price is making you money doing nothing.
Speaking of, in about 1 dollar on lite coin I'll be selling off into tether netting $250 from the last $197 I made this morning at 10am
EDIT: and order filled just like that and in about 4-8 hrs I'll buy back in.
