2.8LBs lost in 1 week.

This is hands down the easiest diet I've ever tried. I've tried keto, and other stuff before and it was painful.

For reference: Since 17 I have eaten out 3 meals a day. So you can imagine how much going from restaurant food to healthy food would suck.. but this diet has made it easy to lose weight. Obviously the end goal is to get back on a normal diet and cook healthy food, but I needed something a little more extreme before summer.

Will use this thread as a log for people interested in this kind of diet.
You're going to have to start eating less high-fat, processed foods and introduce more veggies into your diet, or you're going to either begin to plateau or become hungry and less energetic more often. Aside from the obvious nutrients, fiber, vitamins/minerals etc. you'll have a lot more energy and be able to eat much more for the same amount of calories.

You also need to stop fixating on a number and only use the scale as a guage to measure your progress. Not everybody looks the same at the same weight, even if their height is the same. Some people will hold less/more water, have smaller/denser bone structure, less/more visceral fat and even organ size.

Anyway, I weighed in the other day and I'm down 6lbs in 22 days, which is slower than I'm used to but I'm also really lean this time around. Hit a new flat bench PR today of 275lbs at 158lbs BW and felt like I could have went heavier but didn't want to risk it without a spotter.

Definitely the common sense approach. Given that the success of a given diet variation of this manner is almost entirely dependant on the individuals personal response to it, physiologically and psychologically speaking. The results of a dodgy af study about differences in meal timing yielding miniscule differences in results in a general (and small) population is going to tell you **** all about how it's going to work for you in practice.

Day 8 one meal a day

Earls cajun chicken + a side of yam fries. I didn't eat the coleslaw because it's pretty much mayonnaise salad, but I did eat the potato salad

Total calories appears to be around 1800..

Their nutritional guide said 270 calories for that cajun chicken breast, 570 for the warm potato salad, and I'm guessing 500 for yam fries.

Does 270 calories look possible with the size of that cajun chicken breast? To be safe I rounded it up to 500 calories.

Today i ate 5 chicken tender meal from popeyes, mac and cheese, biscuit, and a sprite. Would this constitute 1 meal a day?

Day 9 one meal a day

Pretty much identical to Day 8

Cravings are non existent. The only time I struggled with hunger was that day I wasted my meal on McDonalds.

Hnnng...

Just ended week 7 of OMAD. I have lost a total of 22 lbs so far.

Today is my "cheat day" though. Thinking of eating out somewhere nice. It's been awhile.

Thanks for explaining. I thought that was more the case than people eating at starvation levels.

This is crazy... it seems every morning I step on the scale I've lost a lot of weight

April 19 166.2 LBs
April 21 164.8 Lbs

I have to be losing a lot of muscle losing weight this fast right? My bodyfat percentage was really high though.. like 30% when I started at 174.4.

I've been keeping my daily protein high though.

Honestly I don't even care if I lose muscle. I'm just going to keep training hard and cutting, because my #1 goal is to not have any sort of beer belly for summer.

If you're training pretty hard as if you would be massing and your nutrition is in check i doubt your losing significant amount of muscle srs. Plus it seems you have plenty of bf to lose. It's once you get to like the low end of bf% where it becomes more prevalent.

Nice. This suboptimal protein dodging troubles me but I’m far enough from my goal that I just want to finish this cut, then recomp and make gains.

Not sure if I can handle that. I think the only reason I can stick to this OMAD diet is because I can just look forward to an amazing meal. If all I had to look forward to was chicken breast and veggies I would probably off myself.

Also... I need to stop opening food threads on misc while I'm 9 hours out from my last meal and many many hours away from my next meal.

i tried this with a keto diet a few years ago. results were great but it was a tough diet and i relied on EC stack to keep me on track.

results:
-miserable and weak for the first week
-craved carbs and sweets so much....weird feeling that i was eating so much meats but felt so empty inside
-lost a lot of fat
-kept some of my gainz but that's probably due to high amount of protein in my diet

i wish i did some labs to see how my body responded. my cholesterol was probably through the roof

Update - bodyfat -

So I've been on this OMAD diet for 14 days, and had caliper bodyfat percentage taken with my personal trainer before I started and today (14 days on the diet).

I lost 1.75% bodyfat in 14 days on this diet.

Stat Refresh:

Starting date: Feb 2nd 2018
Starting Weight: 174.4 lbs
Bodyfat Percentage: 33%
Height: 5'9
Age: 31

March 2nd
Weight: 170 lbs
Bodyfat Percentage: 30% (down from 33%)
I stuck to a good diet, and made some ok progress. Miserable on the diet though.

April 2nd
Weight: 170 lbs
Bodyfat Percentage: 30% (no change)
Basically I ****ed around too much on diet. I kept with my lifting though. As you can though I didn't lose any bodyfat. Wasted month because I couldn't stick to my diet.

April 25th (14 days on this OMAD diet also)
Weight: 164.4
Bodyfat Percentage: 28% (down from 30%)
Basically I didn't lose any weight or bodyfat until I started this diet. This diet has been a godsend.

I'm still blown away that I'm 28% bodyfat. I look lean in clothes and you would never know. When I take my shirt off though I'm soft as phuck. 2% bodyfat in 14 days feels great though.

Is there any hope for me to be 20% before summer at this pace? That's my goal..

^ if i was 28% bodyfat i would literally just abuse stims and fast for weeks on end. go look into all the studies that state that eating nothing = better muscle retention than eating 1-2k calories. and needless to say faster fatloss.

Been doing OMAD for a few years now. Just judging by my own results, I'd say it's pretty solid. Fasting is actually pretty good for you in periods of less than 48 hours and you gain the ability to eat all you need after a few feasts. Profile pic = OMAD results. I trained all through college and was even a D-1 All-American Shot Putter so exercise was not the magic key for me. It was OMAD.

Ronda Rousey basically followed a warrior style diet. She nibbled lightly on berries, nuts and 1500+ calorie Starbucks drinks throughout the day then hit one meal.

you would need to lose 28,5 lbs of pure fat. lets be generous and say 75% will be fat which would mean 38 lb total aka 4,75lb/week

doable if you eat at 2k deficit every day
