Best bet, find a job that requires you to live at your place of work. Or become a caretaker for like a boarding school or something.

Found the solution:
Live-in caregiver jobs there's hundreds in California.
Or you can be a live-in at an old folks home. Or work at a funeral home as a caretaker or groundsman.

Look on gumtree property to share and find a room in a house share. Will be way cheaper.
Failing that, buy a backpack and a large piece of luggage and check into a backpacker's hostel. (leave cat and other excess baggage with a friend, and get them back when you've sorted yourself out).
At the backpacker's hostel say you're from out of town and visiting some relatives for a couple of weeks. You will have to share a dorm with 6-8 other people but it beats sleeping on the street.
Failing that, buy a $500 car, and sleep in that until you find a job / place.

Aren't there drug stores or fast food places that you can walk to? Go apply at all of them. Some money is better than no money coming in. Srs. As for your cat, I completely understand how much you love him and want to keep him, but if you end up on the street, how are you going to take care of him? I am the first person to say chit about people taking their animals to the shelter, but your situation is completely warranted. Call all the no kill shelters in your general vicinity and see if they can take him until you get on your feet. We had a rescue here take a homeless mans dog until he got on his feet and found a place to live. There was an article in the paper and everything of how this man walked miles every day to go see his doggo. I'm pretty sure due to that article someone offered him a job and he found housing and got his doggo back.
You are in no position to be picky about work. Go work at McD's until you get on your feet and then start applying at other places. It's much easier to find a job when you have a job.

. That said places require 3 months pay stubs to apply for an apartment successfully.

Sac brah checking in. You're best to check out those craiglist links someone posted. Apartment rents are going up boyo. Yeah your cat probably has to go. Think about it, if you're homeless, your cat becomes a stray, that doesn't do it any good.

There's honestly no reason you should still be homeless.

Why not be a caregiver? Did a search online and saw several live-in caregiver jobs in California. Call up a few places, provide proof you have a clean record which most likely will be unnecessary.

Brah, why would you not just rent an apartment by the month for a lot cheaper? No proof of employment and all that? What's your plan to get back on your feet?
