It took a while but I got over that too. It’s not a life sentence and there are techniques and support that can reduce and then eliminate it
Hugs abs - anxiety sucks

I know it just takes time to get everything to the point where it's automatic so I can move on to the next level.I had a nasty fungal infection in my arm from training once. At first I thought it just were some mosquito stings and didn't do anything. It ached and I thought I must have scratched it. Than suddenly I looked like I had psoriasis.
Luckily the cream worked well.
How long have you been doing BJJ?
I felt the same way in the beginning, but as soon as I had some basics down I started learning much faster and easier.
It's totally different learning a choke, which you have never seen than being "ah that's the choke the strong purple belt always gets me with, when I try to sweep him."
It's much easier to learn an escape, when you have tried to escape a certain position without a using a specific technique and always end up being blocked at a certain point.

I'm feeling better today (slept hard last night). It probably is the antibiotics that are messing me up. The only reason I'm scared is, like others who've had medical emergencies, I'm a little paranoid about getting an ulcer again. I almost died from that, because it perforated (google perforated ulcer if you don't mind being horrified, I guess), was in the hospital for a week, got C diff. while recovering... just general horribleness. Was the beginning of the end of my running career, too.
So, yeah, probably why I'm so worried about this. BUT I keep thinking, well, good news is the lesion is definitely better and not spreading. So I expect I'll be fine by this weekend... just in the meantime I'm overthinking absolutely everything.

I think you're a **** poster and probably a slow runner and bad at bjj; however, I've had a staph infection too so I'll help you, *******.
If it gets worse and you need to get antibiotics, get a second opinion on the dosage. The meds for that are extremely strong and can really destroy your stomach for months after you're done taking them. This could actually lead you to have to take another round of antibiotics for the new issue.
You will probably have to **** a lot. They definitely sap your energy and combined with the dehydration and ****ting you won't be doing much for a week or so.
Don't let it touch anything because it can easily spread.

LMAO where in this thread was I bragging about being so great at anything? I was a mediocre runner, 5:38 mile time, 19:25 5k. I'm a beginner at BJJ, which is why I'm not used to skin infections... seems like all the old-timers are used to it. [I don't think that means my gym isn't clean--it's a big-name place and they do sanitize and replace mats frequently].

You weren't bragging either, I was just letting you know.
The gym can be plenty clean but that sort of bacteria / fungus / grossness sticks to everything. The mats, the pads, the gis. It spreads so easily, too. Don't go back to the gym until you get rid of it yourself. Also, if it turns into the big M, you have it for life, so I hear.

YOU have probably never run a sub-6 mile, but I am one of those few people who does not e-stat.
Here is a picture of the end of the race in which I first ran a 5:38. I'm on the far left. You can see the clock reads 5:40 a few seconds after I cross it.

I LOVED that watch, even though they made new much lighter models. It was my lucky watch through my half marathon, mile, and 5k PRs. Then my stupid dad borrowed it and broke the strap.

I know from med-bac that there is an endotoxin called "lipid A" which can be released from dying gram negative bacteria. It can make you really sick or kill you. It causes fever and all sorts of immune-related catastrophy. Its one reason why they are very careful when giving oral antibiotics. Some bad bacteria you can't just kill right away, directly like that, or it will kill the host.
