Impossible to pick one. I'll just go with the filmography of John Carpenter. Tons of solid films in there.

Pretty sure it's been stated that "The Shawshank Redemption" has been the most played movie ever. The two movies that most people I know walked out of the theater with chills/goosebumps were:

Braveheart
Forrest Gump

IMO, both are masterpieces in every department.

Hands down one of the best pieces of cinematography I've ever scene...

Field of Dreams is probably the GOAT sports movie...

i think movies are better now than they've ever been (not the crap superhero and action blockbusters, but the indie movies), but if i'm trying to look at it objectively i'd say 2001: a space odyssey. iconic imagery, cinematography and score, very memorable dialogue, villain, and set pieces/scenes, and above all else it's absurdly ambitious.

probably the most influential movie ever made. it's most likely the main reason a lot of directors want to make a high-concept sci-fi epic, like chistopher nolan with interstellar, or alex garland with annihilation, along with the more general influences on filmmaking (people refer to a lot of movies' camerawork as kubrickian if it has long takes or tracking shots), and all the pop culture influences.

Does best mean objectively or most enjoyable to you? I would say the best overall movie with relevance to society at that time and even now would be Apocalypse Now

The movies I could (and have) watched 58405 times are my "best"

LOTR 3
40-Year Old Virgin

YES YES YES, one of the top war movies out there. Those 100 cannons going off at the end still gives me goose bumps.

Jurassic Park outside of fashion trends is a timeless classic.

Harry Potter series was awesome, grew up with the characters. A once in a life time ordeal.
