Seems the argument on here again is whether someone deserves to die for breaking into a home and whether they are a threat to the residents. Seems we must first agree on the rights of the person breaking in, as in does he have the right to kill the home owner if the owner brandishes a weapon to kill him. So a guy breaks into a home and starts to steal stuff, the resident gets their gun and goes intruder hunting, if the intruder is a quicker draw or uses a knife against the home owner is he a murderer?
Ok, so if you got shot, but you're still able to respond, since you're still functioning you're not allowed to respond with deadly force. Nice.

My pure speculation. The responding officers' heard the shots as they arrived on scene. They stormed the house without identifying themselves made contact with homeowner who turned his gun on the cop thinking he was another suspect. Cop did not give any orders to drop the firearm, and immediately shot the homeowner who turned and pointed his gun at the cop.

Like everyone is saying we need the body-cam. As I stated earlier if I was a cop who pulled up on active shooting in a residence, I would not identify myself and give away my position until i had the drop on someone (gun pointed center mass).

The only way this cop should be charged is if he didn't identify himself and did not make a verbal command to drop the firearm.

no, thats what you are saying, not what I said. I said if you actively leave a safe area, get a weapon and go hunting and get shot while hunting is it murder? Like when officer put themselves in danger so they can enter a threat of life plea.

Typical cucks coming out of the woodwork. Everyone knows that you call the cops AFTER **** goes down. And for anyone that breaks into your home you make sure you double tap. Police have been criticized to death for operating in a self defence active/aggressive position, which has been said to be the worst possible state in combat warfare.

The situation could have been better handled. And the cop gets a paid leave. Not surprised at how weak and corrupted the system is.

Ideally nobody gets killed. That's not a fitting punishment for an non-lethal intruder. Even if it were, punishment isn't supposed to be carried out by civilians. Under the long arm of the law, the authorities carry out justice, and punishment is determined in court.
LMAO at this reply detailing the whole thread.

Anyone that ever participates in a home invasion, regardless of the time deserves nothing less than a full magazine to the torso. Maybe even a reload and another one.

Said this in that thread where the POS broke into that home in Queens and the two brothers that were home beat him to death with a baseball bat.

Isn't procedure to shout "Police, drop your weapons, police get on the ground" when entering the building/entering door so people know to put their weapons down and know the police are on the scene???

Otherwise it's just a turkey shoot

I couldnt give a FUK if the perp got killed.

Ideally, he shouldnt be breaking in to people's chit.

The JUDICIARY carries out justice you dumb fuk. Responding PD doesnt have chit to do with justice or punishment. dipchit intruder breaks in to your home with you there, lethal force is allowed. period. end of story. LE is there to stop the threat & try to return things to peace WHICH SOMETIMES MEANS neutralizing the threat, IE, a POS intruder.

Basically yes. something like,
SO & SO POLICE DEPARTMENT, DROP YOUR WEAPONS, GET ON THE GROUND & PLACE YOUR HANDS OVER YOUR HEAD. IF THERE'S ANYONE IN HERE GET ON THE GROUND NOW, repeat, repeat

but these scenes are so chaotic ESP if you know there's people in there & doubly so if you know there are definitely guns. you may have two officers shouting at any one time, basically telling everyone to GTF on the ground & give up.

Purely hypothetical, but I wonder if the police's statement/reaction would be the same if in this chaotic scene, the cops had been tragically killed instead of the homeowner when they responded without announcing themselves.

Just a thought. Don't most police units use loud speakers to provide orders? When the shots were heard, couldn't they just have held perimeter until they stopped, and then proceeded to give orders over loud speaker? Was rushing the home necessary when they heard shots, especially not knowing who they were coming from? Sure, I understand if rounds are whizzing by their heads, but running into a home seems a bit overzealous and careless, no? This way the homeowner could have opened the door slowly, presented his hands, and been taken into custody to give his account of what happened, and express that the threat had been neutralized.

putting myself in the cops shoe, if I barge in see a guy with a gun standing and another lying motionless on the ground and I have 0.5 seconds to make a decision which one is the criminal here before I could potentially get shot at, that's a hard as fk decision to make... not absconding the cop from any responsibility though...

It comes with the territory. Not everybody is cut out to be a cop. It's a hard job, I don't doubt it one bit.

The issue with modern day law enforcement is that many of them will shoot first and ask questions later. I don't know man, is this a good policy? Even our law enforcement officers don't want to put themselves in harmful situation by trying to assess the situation before blowing the guys brains out.

This isn't the FBI. This is APD.

You'd have to look at their SOP, body-cam footage etc. Not every department has the same exact SOP.

Obviously APD skipped a step or this guy failed to follow orders, if any was given. Time will tell.
