Is and always has been very similar to an 80/20 diet. This is not "New" this is a fact of life. I cut on 2400 calories and once you throw the required 800 cals of protein everything else is tight. Eating pizza and then STILL hitting protein macros while staying under your calories for the day immediately turns into "80/20". When you are around 3k it is easier to throw in a snickers bar, but lets be realtea. Most people are only tracking their food religiously when they are on a cut.

if i sneak a snack in incognito or in the dark, my body won't know i'm doing it and it won't count against my macros. i agree you don't need to eat clean all the time. that just gets old and bland, in fact there's plenty of tasty 'junk' you can eat that are surprisingly dense in micros and healthy goodness. just gotta get creative.

How do you think your body accumulates fat or uses it for energy?

Hint: It's not about calories, it's about insulin.

Lower-insulin spiking foods are going to promote fat storage a lot less than insulin-spiking carbs or whey powders, regardless of calories. In a huge caloric surplus, eating foods that spike your insulin is just asking to get fat. If the foods aren't spiking insulin as much, you'll gain less fat and the excess energy will be used on metabolic functions, excreted as waste or to repair cells, like muscles.

Some will be stored as fat, but far less than if you're eating bullchitty heavily processed grains and sugary foods.
All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident.

I hear you but when these guys start cutting they are eating a lot more than 800 cals and aren't adding in chit foods for a reason, not because they can't fit it in.
I know guys that cut down their intake sub 1500 during prep, and women under 1000.
Let's say they have 800 calories fir a burger (probably poverty macros too), which leaves 700 calories forthe dude and maybe 200 for the girl. Most people like to drink protonz after their workout, and because of the poverty macros in the burger they're probably going to need two scoops = 240 cals.
700-240 = 460 cals left for the guy, and the girl already went over. 460 means 230 calories for lunch and breakfast, which is hardly enough to maintain energy levels and hit macros.
This is obviously very different from the average man who cuts on 2000ish and has a lot more wiggle room in terms of macros.

IIFYM doesn’t mean how much junk can you fit into your macros...

I hardly even track macros (just roughly hit my protein and fat, not strict at all). And don’t even have to try but most of my food would still be considered “clean” by today’s obesity centric standards. For example, breakfast was andouille sausage and grapes, lunch was ranch season chicken thighs with bacon, sweet potatoes and cherry tomatoes, dinner was a lightened version of shrimp scampi with tortellini and asparagus. Still leaves me 500 kcal for snacks and/or alcohol if I feel like it.

Only time you need to eat STRICTLY healthy Whole Foods is either you’re almost done preppimg (or trying to get very lean) or your maintenance is crazy low (<1400 kcal). I’m only eating 1600-1700 kcal a day and I still have enough flexibility.
They said she's gone too far this time
