It's not supposed to be fulfilling, and people's disappointment from it arises from their expectations that it's supposed to make them happy or something. Casual sex is pleasure (if you enjoy it, that is). It's nothing more, nothing less. When I drink a dram of a nice scotch, I don't become disappointed that it didn't provide "meaning" to my life because I was never expecting it in the first place. I enjoy it for what it is--it tastes good and makes me feel good.
That said, age is a factor as well. Casual sex is a largely physical pleasure, and as your get older and your test drops bit by bit, it's only natural that it's no longer as appealing as it once was.

Sex without connecting first is a waste. Cuddling is just goat after sex even with casual sex partners. Or just talking about the past after sex it helps the connection. Can never have sex without doing at least one of the two.
