It also doesn't help that manual transmissions have been showcased in Hollywood driven by dominate men. Torreto, Memphis in Gone in 60 Seconds, Transporter, James Bond, etc

Driving a manual has always given off a manly vibe. Automatic is seen as a creature comfort. Too easy, no skill, though efficient.

I've never driven a manual but I feel like it also gives a sense of freedom, sort of a rebel. Balding middle class dads drive the automatics, whereas manuals are driven by those full of vigor and youth no matter the age.
Solid post.

From personal experience girls have found it attractive that I drive a manual. And cars that are available in manual tend to be attractive/sporty/aggressive/chad cars that girls will definitely notice and compliment. And sometimes the best cars are only available in a manual such as an STI, Focus RS, Type R, GTR R34, Supra, certain Porsches, etc. Those cars are reserved for enthusiasts who enjoy the driving experience. Honda has always only put a manual transmission in their sporty versions of their cars, such as the Civic SI, Type R, the older NSX, S2000 etc. Which I highly respect.

Put the same guy in a Toyota corolla and then put him in like a GTR R34 that is aggressive af. You couldn't possibly tell me he wouldn't be PERCEIVED as more attractive in the R34. But still, a cool car won't fix a broken face, but don't act like girls don't judge what car you drive. Especially if she had an ex that had an aggressive fast car etc.

All these auto ****s and their coping. Driving stick is perceived as more masculine. Period. Hollywood has made it so.

OP is right,

Also anyone who doesn’t start the car by turning that large crank thing on the front of the car (outside) is legit beta!

And anyone who uses power windows is straight up beta. Roll up windows are the only alpha way!

I will probably need to go with a dog box (straight cut gears) on the ‘32 after this turbo upgrade and will probably bite the bullet and go sequential

it's not all about speed brother.

it is mostly about the funness of the car. And a big part of the funness is driving a car with a great manual transmission.

give me a subaru brz manual in a canyon road over a tesla any day of the week

Going to the dealership and ticking the "manual" box is not an expression of innate "maleness".
It's weird. Somehow a skill that you can learn in an afternoon is "manly."

What are you even talking about? The car I learned to drive on was a manual and it took an afternoon.

You somehow believe that this is a mythical skill that few have ever accomplished.

I'm starting to think maybe you have a learning disability.

It's always nice to know how, but it kinda sucks for kids these days since their not really common unless it's an old piece that's broke or something.

I learned on a 1990 Civic 4-door when I was 16, thing was a piece of crap, but it got the job done.

Yea I mean I’m manly enough I think in my half ton V8 automatic trucks that I’ve driven since I was 16.

Also drove an International 4700 armored truck like I stole it back when I worked for the money haulers.

I’d like to see most miscers drive one of those 20,000 lb bad boys with straight bullet proof windows and nothing but convex mirrors on the hood to check behind you for lane changes lmao.

I hear you. I used to valet so I got the opportunity to drive all types of cars. Opening up in a ZR1 was fun, something about being involved in the timing of the motor was indescribable. Like it felt like you control the power.

Misc really is retarded outside of trolling and even then it's still corny. You should have put this in the car section OP.

I LOVE motorcycles repped. I got my License last summer, so now it's a matter of saving. I'm thinking a 650 for starters or r6.

I don't think women like motorcycles though, just like they don't care for cars.

Only downside is no storage since I live in a small apartment so I'm gonna be waiting for a bit.
