I can't stand people that take the approach of "Painting your skin another color is ALWAYS bad".

That just can't be true, but they will persist that it is.

Some make arguments like "Europeans do know what blackface is, they're just lying that they don't". I can tell you now, until relatively recently, I had no fking idea what blackface was. Yes there are people online trying to claim she was intending to be racist, and are trying to fuk her life up. These people are pure disgust. Pure digust. And they think of themselves as righteous. Disgust.

This girl paints her face in the color of a character from a game. Her intention is to look as much like that character as possible. Her intention is not to be racist and hurt peoples feelings.

Context matters, it will always matter. A persons intentions make a person racist, not their actions.

If a man purposefully runs over another man with his car, he is an intentionally murderous man. If a man unintentionally runs over another man with his car, he is not a murderous man. To claim both men are the same is ridiculous. There was a thread on the misc where a father accidentally fell on his toddler and broke his toddlers neck. To say that's the same thing as the father purposefully dropping on his toddlers neck and breaking it is fking ridiculous. The analogy fits 1:1, perfectly. Showing context matters.

Now let's say you are aware of what blackface is, and you know some people may genuinely get upset if you paint your face black. Knowing this information, would painting your face black now make you racist? Still no. It would make you someone that cares more about painting your face black, than you do about upsetting someone... but that doesn't make you racist.

Creating a movie that involves rape, you know that people have actually been raped, and will watch that movie... and the rape scene will upset them. Should rape scenes in movies be banned because a group of people who were victims of rape now get to decide who is "pro rape", and who isn't?

A group of people don't get to decide what's racist and what's not. You can't say "If black people say it's racist, it's racist."... that's not true. If you think that way, you're simply wrong.

I'm convinced there's a not so insignificant percentage of people that don't have the cognitive ability to access right and wrong regarding these situations.

Many of the articles I’m reading say that black cosplayers often deal with huge amounts of hate for merely cosplaying white characters, even without changing their skin tone. Just cosplaying a white character results in racial slurs thrown in their direction, being berated, told they shouldn’t be cosplaying a white character at all, etc etc

The problem is that a lot of people who are complaining may not even be black. Twitch did this because they are SJW or afraid of the SJWs.

There are other people of different colors who were under some sort of slavery during a certain time, its not just black people.
- Mexicans and the rest of south america against Spain.
- Filipinos were under Spain and were treated as slaves (alipin) for more than 300 years until they sold the whole country to the US.
- Most of middle east under the Ottoman empire.
- Chinese slavery of their own people during the Qin and Han dynasty.

It's really becoming out of control. Its the media and politicians who are taking advantage and using this issues everytime they get a chance.
