"Why is there graphite on your roof?" Then having a soldier grab the plant managers by the shoulders and escort them away, doubt we'll see them again.

Absolutely amazing. The acting is superb. I really like the scenes where they are in group meetings trying to explain the situation..
I can't wait for the next episode, haven't been this excited for a TV show in so long.

I'm into the discussion a little late, but what about in the first episode when homeboy went into the reactor room and looked straight down into the exposed reactor? That was some horrifying shiit.

Watch it again. The helicopter is obviously damaged as it falls, not merely stalled out.

--The proper plural form of the Latin adjective biceps is bicipites, a form not in general English use. Instead, biceps is used in both singular and plural (i.e., when referring to both arms). The form bicep [sic], although common even in professional contexts, is considered incorrect. (from Wikipedia)

What a great 2nd episode. I had no idea it was on the brink of making all Ukraine uninhabitable.
Top notch acting, writing, everything. Resisting the urge to watch/read a bunch of chernobyl chit because HBO won't join us in the current year and release all their stuff at once.

Pleasantly surprised after going in with no expectations, actually been wanting something proper about Chernobyl since I learned of it. (inb4 just read history books)
9.5 IMDB score atm, probably won't stay at that level but that's crazy high.

Is noone else here actually in the nuclear industry? This is basically the Jaws version of what happened lol.
Undoubtedly this was a bad deal, but everything about this show is so cringeworthy it's ridiculous.
Fukushima was noone near as bad by all conventional means, yes, **** was released and is going to take a long time to cleanup...by no means good, but look at the actual injuries and death from the radiation vs how many died from the flooding and the extremes the system was put under. Chances are any "radioactive material" environmental release maps you've seen are laughable levels at best. Could it have turned out better with proper planning by the Japanese? Yes of course, but acting like it was anywhere near as bad as Chernobyl is an uninformed load of bull. The main reason **** went south for them was the diesel generators that powered the cooling system ran out of fuel. Chernobyl blew because of operator and company stupidity, along with a terrible reactor design to begin with. No currently running plants are anywhere close to capable of doing what happened there.
By all means, enjoy the show for what it is, but don't spread bull**** propaganda, nuclear power is quite literally one of the only sources of high output zero carbon power plants that we have.

the only thing that is covered in the show so far is the period starting with the meltdown to the evacuation
no one mentions Fukushima
the reason for the meltdown is still a mystery at that point in time in the show

Fukishima is still pumping massive amounts of radiation into the Pacific Ocean daily, radiation levels on the west coast of the USA are rising
Way too premature to say fukishima isn’t as bad as Chernobyl, it’s still going on and chances are, we will never know how much cancer and death is causes not directly and indirectly
I do know thyroid cancer rates in Japan have skyrocketed since Fukushima, thyroid cancer is the first to show
