what skills does a server have to justify greater pay?

this is the number 1 excuse given by institutionalized panhandlers aka waiters..'if you don't like tipping, don't go out'...

that's not for the lowest levels employees to decide. that is for the owner to decide. I'd like to see the owner of the business tell me that I shouldn't return if I don't like tipping. he of course would never do that as he realizes that without customers he'd be out of business. but these parasite panhandlers with no skin in the game have no issue spouting that garbage

If anything there is more incentive, they get paid more and they still get tipped if the service is excellent. It isn't like we just don't tip we probably tip 80% of the time, it's just nobody will have a panic attack if you don't like they seem to in USA.

no one tips in europe unless they're braindead americans or have been influenced by braindead americans.
there is no tipping culture so there is no expectation of a tip.

I've never once heard a server talk aboutwhat exactly they do to earn the tip other than "servers don't get paid much so therefore you need to throw me some money cuz."

tipping is retarded. i worked min wage jobs before and serving. serving was literally the easiest thing i've done in working life.

but servers think they should have the take home income of someone making 6 figs

i know servers making 6 figures working 5 hour nights 7x a week at an upscale steakhouse. and the thing is, they don't even declare their tips so their take home pay might be closer to someone who makes 130k or 140k.

there's no reason a minimum skill no intelligence job should require so much. just get rid of waiters and replace them with a conveyer belt or some ****

That being said, the vast majority of servers depend on the kindness of strangers for their income because the IRS wants you to claim 100% of your tips but you only legally have to claim like 8% (or all non-cash tips that are traceable). The more you tip in non-cash, the more the server MUST claim at the end of each shift and that means the more money comes out of each pay check. Often times, each pay check is good for MAYBE a half tank of gas and if you made a lot of tips in the prior 2 weeks, then your check will be void.

It's up to the establishment to pay the server more but if you ask me, that isnt much incentive to give excellent service. Plus, if you pay them more + tips, then you end up with the same service you get at waffle house or applebees. I'm sure there are plenty of stores that pay there servers much more AND they still give great service, but that is DEFINITELY not the rule. it is the exception.

Lastly, that senator is an absolute virtue signalling dick for that move. I hope he gets in serious trouble for it. But that guy who left the chitty tip is also a dick (assuming that the server did a good job though. If the server was terrible then that is his/her problem)
