Really good at math, no social skills, the list goes on and on.
Same applies here but in particular with women. they can be really hot looking and an awesome instagram model but cannot be a great cop also. it simply doesnt happen that way. When you think about it, why would it? She has been giving everything in life and there will and has always been someone there to get her out of any situation that is even slightly uncomfortable.

The first cop drove up right next to the guy too, which makes me think he didn't realize the suspect even had a gun. A lot of times on calls like this your brain is moving at 1000mph and so you don't really slow down and look around, it's easy to miss simple things even when you're looking for them, just because you're moving so fast.out of curiosity here brahs
why do the cops in this situation not use their vehicles as weapons? it seems the safest thing to do. Looks like the cops were planning on firing on the dude from the get go to neutralize the threat. So why not ram him instead, much higher chance of the dude surviving, fewer stray bullets and little chance he runs

So the cops knew there was a fight, but didn't realize it had already become a deadly force situation. They arrive, see the guy with a gun, probably give him a command or two to drop it and he doesn't, and probably the female deputy is screaming that he took the gun or something, so then it becomes a deadly force situation at which time they fire. Even with this video evidence, if they just rammed into him coming in, that would probably be unjustified just because they don't have all the knowledge the viewer does at that time.

There are plenty of jobs in the military that don't require man levels of physical strength. Not everyone needs to be a meat shield, schlepping 100 lbs of crap through the desert every day.
And there is a benefit to having women in the police force. It's good for image and PR. 99% of police work is interacting with people and most are more comfortable talking with an attractive woman than the biggest a-hole they went to high school with who thinks he's a mustache'd Judge Dredd now. This was a one in a million scenario which she lost and probably failed to follow strict procedure. Guns are force equalizers, so someone who's physically weaker than most perps should never be in a position where her weapon can be wrestled away so easily.

Additionally, I think guns are perceived as force equalizers but in reality, it's pretty hard to hit a moving target in a high stress situation.

The powers that be have decided that the pros of hiring women outweigh the cons and I can't imagine it'll ever revert back. I don't have a huge problem with it because in most places, the role of the police is to issue tickets and harass poor people/bums. They aren't a paramilitary force. This woman knew the risks of the job, made a mistake, and almost paid the price.

I read the story earlier today from abc7, scrolled to the comments and read a few along the lines ," easy to take Instagram pictures with the uniform but not to really act like one (cop)" .... Now it makes sense (I didn't know she was some Instagram model )

wonder if she'll face any repercussion because of this? also, aren't cops trained to keep a distance from criminals? obviously that's training and cannot be compared to IRL scenarios but how the hell did he get close enough to reach for her gun?
i would assume her IG career is dunzo though.

Putting your hands up while a cop's stolen gun is in your hands doesn't really count. She's lucky AF and should stick to Insta modeling rather than trying to be a cop.

Just rewatched the video, at first I wasn’t sure how comfortable I was that they just unloaded on what seemed to have been an individual that surrendered but after rewatching I noticed one pop went off as they approached and the female had already run off. I don’t know if it was fitted in the air or towards them but regardless that’s threatening and explains, and to me, justifies the immediate shooting.
My question to the Leo affiliated people here is it protocol for the officer to run away after being disarmed ? I wouldn’t imagine so but then again you could hear the other officers arriving just around the corner. I realize at that point you’re in fight or flight mode and ****s crazy. Had she continued fighting she most likely would’ve been killed but by running away he possibly could’ve used the weapon on civilians or the other officers. Any opinions?

Another idiot commits suicide by cop. Cool camera work but ultimately nothing to see here.
