they absolutely do NOT want equality. the whole point to capitalism is to create a profit. that means you sell something for more than it's worth. you get to keep the net aka profit. that creates "winners and losers" and is dichotomous by nature.

how can you have "equality" in a system based off of anything but? meaning everytime there's an interaction it's creating the "winner and loser"

the top relies on feeding off the bottom

i'm not advocating for any system, but just saying

The biggest problem with our current system is:

- the level of cronyism
- fiat currency

Because too many stupid kids waste the money they get on loans instead of using it to buy tools that will help them finish that degree. Plus most of them get degrees in BS majors like liberal arts, and after/IF they graduate, just end up working at low-end jobs. This in turn, fuks them up because of all the student loan debt they have. They have no one to blame, but themselves

Simple solution. Government should force institutions (or do whatever they constitutionally and legally can do) to drastically cut the number of university places available. Way too many people are going to college, and there aren't the jobs to support it. If you get a degree and then can't get a job in your field then you probably shouldn't have gone to college in the first place.

I was lucky enough to not go to college and ended up with a good engineering job. Most of my buddies who have thousands in student loan debt make like 40 or 50k a year. I think a big part of the problem is the sky rocketing cost of education. Seems fuk'd to me that these public universities cost what they do. At the same time I don't think its fair for everyone to pay higher taxes to cover everyone's loans. Wouldn't a more fair solution be to freeze everyone's loan balance maybe and let them pay it back without the interest? It's a complex issue.

oh and the length of some college courses in USA is a joke. Absolute scam to have to go to college for 7-8 years to be a doctor, lawyer, pharmacist etc. Most other countries you can do those courses in 4-5 years straight out of high school, you don't have to a whole undergrad course first, and their graduates are just as good if not better than USA's.

lol @ pretending it's for the benefit of the student, to make them "well-rounded". It's 100% a cash grab scam.

It should not be legal to NOT be able to go bankrupt in certain cases, that's legalized slavery.

Fiduciary duty, I cannot give contracts to retards (what students are) when it is easily provable that I know better and then seize their **** for life.

Banks have systems that have involved 1000s of 130+ IQ average age 40+ individuals working together as a team, the average student is a 105-115 IQ TEENAGER. This is a simple and provable fact.

Just let students go bankrupt, simple enough, but boomers won't allow that. Honestly the west is so completely ****ed and overrated, it's unreal.

Student loans can be discharged in bankruptcy.

In Germany education is free.

Never mind that.

When the AfD wins, they'll have another Adolf. Taking back what's rightfully their's.

Then you'll all learn German, or die trying.

Ok here is the problem of why college is so expensive. It's because the government backs the student loan industry. So the banks just lend out x amount of money to anyone who qualifies for the loan, do not require collateral, etc because if thousands of people fail to pay back the loans, government bails them out with your tax dollars. Stop backing the student loan industry. Then banks will require collateral. Less people will be able to afford school but it also means a secondary education makes you more competitive in the job market because less people have it. This will give rise to smaller community colleges and trades again. Cost of living might not get so expensive because people on average wouldn't make as much money and you would have less poverty that way.

Yeah, the solution is to stop the problem at its source. Gov.-backed loans pretty much mean guaranteed pmt to universities for however much they decide to charge. I think this has also incentivized them to just inflate the price of college wherever possible. In an Andrew Yang interview I heard that one of the things driving the cost of tuition up is the number of non-academic support staff that universities hire. So if they come up with some kind of legislation that makes universities adhere to a reasonable faculty to student ratio, that could also prevent prices from spiraling out of control as they're doing. From there, hopefully the loans people need to take out would decrease drastically

not everyone has the same financial situations, not everyone had the same information you did or knowledge you had at 18, which like i said an 18 year old in this country might as well be a 12 year old. You know what I was taught in high school about finances? how to write a check and how to check my bank account, that was it. Its more important to learn about igneous rock formations and the historic battles in your State than it is to learn about how loans work, what is interest, how to manage your finances as an individual.

My parents were bankrupt when i was a teenager because they got laid off so their knowledge of finances was about 0. Their only advise to me as people who had no formal education was " DO WHATEVER it takes with loand or scholarships to GET a degree, that is all that matters"
Me, as a naive completely uninformed 18 year old took my parents advice. I have worked my ass off usually 60 hours a week since the time i graduated college so I am by no means a lazy individual, i have always lived in 1 bedroom apartments, driven a car WAY below my means, and never spend money on clothes, eating out, or possessions. All my furniture I buy used and live a minimalist life. My student loan balance is more than it was when i graduated college.

I cant tell you how sorry my parents are and how much they have apologized for that advice now and the resentment I have for them always pushing me to take the loans even when I didnt think it was a wise decision, but that doesnt really matter does it.
its everyone else's fault!

like I said its an ignorant statement to say every 18 year old has the knowledge and experience to be given a 40-100,000 loan. Meanwhile every other loan of half that amount requires extensive credit history checks, and proof of responsibility over years and this is all calculated by very intelligent bankers with extensive knowledge in finance, but when it comes to student loans, they just hand them out like candy. Just because SOME people have financial knowledge at 18 likely because they had parents who had that knowledge and taught them well or they were forced by financial situations to need to learn that, most 18 year olds know **** all about finances or exactly how loan repayments work, and as many people here stated everyone and their mother is TELLING 18 year olds you MUST go to college AT ALL COSTS.

Do I say some responsibility doesnt fall on the 18 year old? No, some does, but the way it is right now it is a crooked system taking advantage of a situation and climate in which 18 year olds are fed that they must go to college and take out loans if needed and given no sort of vetting, or VERY minimal vetting on their acceptance.

Just as I used the the legal advice, or lets say a Doctors medical advice. If a doctor tells you they strongly believe you have one illness and must take XXX medication, you follow their advice, and end up with the illness getting worse because their advice was wrong, is it 100% your fault for listening to that doctor and not having better medical knowledge yourself? If you believe that I have 0 further words on this matter with you because our belief systems are completely opposite. But The blame isnt solely on the patient, some is on the patient for blindly following the doctor, some is on the doctor themselves, and some is on the way the system is set up where doctors try and rush from patient to patient to make more money.

I will also add to some people "well my tax dollars shouldnt be to solve your problem". We live in a democratic society where the majority's opinion rules. If the majority of the population believes the student loan crisis is worthy of fixing through taxes, guess what, your tax dollars sure as **** will go towards solving the problem or you can go to another country where they have a more suited political climate for your beliefs.
Democracy does =/= my tax dollars only go to what i want them to go to and i only recognize beliefs i agree with.
