OP, in your opinion, should people remain in isolation or should the country get back to work with elderly and those with underlying conditions being the only ones in isolation?

Going to the gym and out to eat in NY? Were you doing an experiment to test your immune system? Leaving the house at all in NY = confirmed Corona. Almost half the US cases and no sign of getting it under control. Knowing that is just tested cases, you can assume all of NY has it and every surface is covered in it at this point.

I am in Mass. Specially cape cod and their are signs everywhere telling people that came from metro New York to self quarantine for 14 days because some of them own property here.
How many of them do you think would actually do this. I’m goona say 0% because as a whole people just suck.

So far on cape there are very few cases because it’s off season with most cases being in the Boston area.

Stay safe bros. I don’t know what this is anymore.

I've been of the mindset since day 1 of this outbreak in Wuhan that the economic fallout will be worse than the virus itself.

I think we need to continue to keep the economy going but with serious changes to the way of life in order to accomplish that safely. We need to follow what Singapore and SK have done and get real serious about temperature checks at places of work, restaurants, everywhere. It's not foolproof but it'll help to reduce the spread greatly. I think we need to consider using technology to track our contacts and movements for better surveillance on this virus, though I hate the privacy implications, it's better than leaving everything closed.

I agree that the elderly and those with underlying conditions need to continue to self-isolate, but I think with the right measures in place this virus should not shut the healthy population of this country out of work and their "mostly" normal way of life.

I have friends from the city that have already left to their upstate/long island/florida homes. Lots of people have already evacuated from the city if they had a reasonable place to stay.

Yeah one night I started looking up the best hospitals with the best capacity and had the best success with CV patients thus far. I felt like I could have been hours away from it turning on me and needing medical assistance but so far, it's managed to stay under control so that I've been able to manage the symptoms at home.

Sorry to hear this news brah. Symptoms sound really bad. I've also been taking precautions to not get it. I'm only leaving the house once a week for a quick run at the local grocery store. They've put distancing measures in place there and have installed a hand washing station in the entrance.

So much for all the "hurr durr bruh but ma freedoms covid-19 just a cold" morons around. Around these parts when someone in an old folks home gets it, it's a really dangerous situation. Most of the deaths are older people with compromised immune systems. Hope you recover soon! Keep posting about your progress.

Far less TP actually. No more PWO so less time on the toilet.

I've been looking at the low number of recovered statistics for the US, looks real sad. Hopefully that's me in a few days, though I have no idea who the fuk I would even report that to, those jackasses gave the least helpful instructions when on the phone for my positive result.

Sorry to hear op, sounds awful.

What were your symptoms when it first started? I’ve been feeling “off” lately, but that could be because I drank way too much whiskey last weekend. Been getting small headaches and yesterday around 2pm I became unbelievably tired. No cough, or chest symptoms though.

You are trying to keep distance right? I know a couple where the infected person stays in the basement and the non infected brings them food and drinks.

I'm on that as well. Too much Zinc is not good, I think I dose 10mg daily. Turmeric I double dose.

I have not had a major flu or cold in years now and I am old as God.

You're underestimating how dangerous a common cold is to older people with compromised immune systems.https://www.researchgate.net/publica...ract_Infection
Here's a study showing a 30-day death rate of 9.6% in elder patients at an average age of 71.6 years old hospitalized with the common cold. For reference the south korean death rate for patients hospitalized with corona in the 70-80 age bracket was 5.3%. But just for fairness, according to reddit the average death rate in the 70-80 bracket for corona was 10%.

This study also shows the common cold being more deadly than the flu in elder patients.

Actually, don't want to scare anyone but a 16 year old french girl died with no known health issues

There are always outliers of course, the vast majority of young people don't even need treatment
