Cruising was the best thing about the 80's for me. I had a 78 Trans Am in High School 88-89. Spent every night hanging out in parking lots, cruising the strip all night, etc. Get a few hours sleep, go to school, go to work at part time job, then back out cruising. Everyone had fake ID's to go to bars on the weekends and the bouncers knew they were fake and didn't care.
Gas was 99 cents a gallon. Burger king had 99 cent Whoppers after 10 pm. You could live all week on 20 bucks. MTV actually played music videos. Just a different time.

The 80's were absolutely glorious
BRB best movies ever made, absoutely epic movies coming out every month and taken for granted e.g. ET, Raiders Of The Lost Ark, Star Wars, Rocky, Jaws, Predator, Terminator etc etc - people used to queue around the blocks to get into the cinema houses. The air was abuzz with excitement.
BRB best pop music era of all time and the bands of the time were taken for granted e.g. Depeche Mode, The Cure, Queen etc etc etc
BRB huge open air shows that everyone in the town went to as it was a social thing and nobody had mobile phones etc, so it was quite a big deal e.g. beer tents, fun fair, outdoor radio shows etc
I could go on and on but can't be fukked tbh

I'm the same age as Sloop. Born in 1978, graduated High School in 1996.
I lived through two excellent decades in the 80's and 90's, even though for me personally the 90's were much better. Here's a couple pictures of a Young Big Spaz. Grew up in the 80's looking like the prototypical 80's kid. Hit the 90's and had the $1,000 car with the $8,000 stereo system in it. And graduated looking very much like a typical 90's kid as well.

Asking someone to understand the 80s/90s that was born after 2001 is impossible...
They cant understand the fundamental sense of freedom during this time. They can only view these decades through the blinders of a post 2001 society...They can SEE what the 80s looked like but they cant imagine what the 80s felt like...

Graduated in '83 and yes the 80's were awesome. We had ALL the great music, movies like Back To The Future, Star Wars (when it was good), John Hughes movies...so much awesome sh!t. Certainly there's a lot of great stuff these days, but things seem to be so much more alive back then and without all of today's BS.

I grew up in the 1880s
Saw a lot of bands before they became really huge or their members died (Randy Rhodes, Keith Moon, Cliff Burton, Steve Clark, etc)
Actually saw Moon in the late 70's.
