Pretty sure there isn't a vaccine for any corona virus. Not SARS, not MERS, and so on. I don't see how this is going to be any different.

Note: there is a vaccine for the flu though and it STILL kills 200-400k people each year.

1 in 5 New Yorkers May Have Had Covid-19, Antibody Tests Suggest

15,740 deaths from coronavirus in New York state.

Based on these testing methods, there is an estimated 2,700,000 people who have contracted and built immunity to the virus.

With that as our new denominator, the CFR becomes 0.59%

And Miami/Dade reports a 6% antibody infection rate, 165,000 cases. The 15x active infection figure in the article is an understatement - the tests took two weeks to carry out. Miami/Dade has under 300 deaths, a ~0.2% death rate (noticing a trend)?

Nobody ever enters of leaves NZ ever again?

Years after the rest of the world has moved on and is living with the virus as a normal part, NZ is still living in isolation, North Korea style.

You realise if you don't socialise.. then it doesn't spread... then as people recover less people have it.... so it can't spread as much... eventually so few have it that its no longer a threat and you open up everything back up.

so see where you are now?
You are kind of stagnating at about 30k new cases per day. Not going up or down, so your half assed locked down measures are stopping it sky rocketing, but not enough to reduce new cases.
Of the base that has it, people will recover. If more people recover than new cases appearing, the base goes down. As the base it spreads less. However you need lockdown and precautions for a while cause even when recovered it can linger on.
Dude is right. Oz has similar lockdown to NZ & has followed a similar path - from a higher base start.

Problem is every USA response from the "Chinese lockout" (which allowed them or US Chinese to come in unscreened from 3rd country origins) has been ill planned, half assed, full of loopholes- almost as if the USA had a completely incompetent govt in charge where half the decent officials had been fired & replaced with kids & relatives of the President or yes men with no actual expertise....

This is so legit, I am glad you are on board for having old people, drug abusers, preexisting conditional having and fat people be taken to jail for leaving their houses.

We need to lock down the most vulnerable to save their lives.

But the other thing you forgot to factor in is kill shot terms (when you say them the other side has to admit losing):
2nd waves
Mutations
Exponential growth

Basically:
No lockdowns like Sweden=horrendous
Mediocre lockdowns like America=bad
Good lockdowns like Straya and NZ=good, but we have to stay concerned long term and not let people outside
Great lockdowns like Denmark=great, but we have to stay concerned long term and not let people outside

People need to stop crying.

Yes we're never going outside again, but we need to stop the Coronavirus and NEVER ask for statistics like:

Average age
BMI (how fat they are)
Preexisting conditions
Previous drug use

Of people dying, this is HATE SPEECh and must be IMMEDIATELY SHUT DOWN

Enjoy your airbourne SARS AIDS. Most patients that survived SARS 1 got nasty after effects that persisted and even got worse years later. It was a disease that you have to live with for the rest of your lives. Many people who survived SARS had nasty after effects like confusion, random halluciantions, muscle pains, headaches, chest pains, kidney problems, chronic fatigue. And in some people it even got worse over the years, not better. The new coronavirus aka SARS CoV 2, might act in a similar way, but it´s not completely understood yet. The liklyness of it is pretty high tho. SARS 1 was a virus that tore down your body over time, and new research suggest that the same might be true for this new virus.

The new coronavisus genome is more than 90% similar to SARS 1.

They've never had the pleasure of seeing a person die of ARDS? It is not a pleasant thing.
Or.
Maybe the prospects of suffering organ damage, and/or sterility just don't phase them. I mean, you can live without testicles. So what's the big deal right?

You are such a humanitarian and everyone who opposes you is evil, what did you do for the 150,000 people dying daily before the Coronavirus?

First of all, more testing, you will see more positives. They are now testing people that aren't showing symptoms but could have been exposed. What's more, the US has 320,000,000+ people so our numbers being higher, well damn you're a math wiz aren't you people?

This isn't directed directly at you blakus.

You know, part of these loopholes and incopetency you speak of has to do with the fact that here in the US we have rights and we don't have an authoritarian government with it's boots in our necks. Even some of the states that have done some more progressive steps such as fines and such are going to end up having to pay it back because you can't violate people's rights. If this has actually happened I don't know. I'm sure there will be some people who will say this should be the reason to rip up the Bill of Rights for the safety of a few people. This could be a back door to letting in people who want to micro-manage people's lives. It's like the individual mandate that Obama passed, and the greatest thing Trump did was to shred it because if they can get one mandate they can get more. A lot of people don't seem to understand what going down that road can lead to.

What blows my mind more than anything is watching obese people and smokers suddenly care about their health. Suddenly they are worried about something killing them. I'd like to say that this virus could be a wakeup call for many and will in the long run save lives but I know how people are, they will go right back to the way they have always been once this is over.

Had you done lockdown properly and actually prepared properly (lead by an orange clown though so good luck with that) then you'd have a fraction of that. Still you guys continue to royally F it up.

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/artic...ess-italy-says

99% of Those Who Died From Virus Had Other Illness, Italy Says

Professor Johan Giesecke, one of the world’s most senior epidemiologists, advisor to the Swedish Government (he hired Anders Tegnell who is currently directing Swedish strategy), the first Chief Scientist of the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control, and an advisor to the director general of the WHO, lays out with typically Swedish bluntness why he thinks:

- UK policy on lockdown and other European countries are not evidence-based
- The correct policy is to protect the old and the frail only
- This will eventually lead to herd immunity as a “by-product”
- The initial UK response, before the “180 degree U-turn”, was better
- The Imperial College paper was “not very good” and he has never seen an unpublished paper have so much policy impact
- The paper was very much too pessimistic
- Any such models are a dubious basis for public policy anyway
- The flattening of the curve is due to the most vulnerable dying first as much as the lockdown
- The results will eventually be similar for all countries
- Covid-19 is a “mild disease” and similar to the flu, and it was the novelty of the disease that scared people.
- The actual fatality rate of Covid-19 is the region of 0.1%
- At least 50% of the population of both the UK and Sweden will be shown to have already had the disease when mass antibody testing becomes available

And just like cattle, people who believe and trust their overlords give away their freedom...

Spastic much?
Any way since you care...

Here is the scenario, your mommy tells you she can loan you that $20 so you don't get evicted. So you rush right over before her "clients" arrive, to avoid the humiliation of having to refer to them as "uncle", and being called "lil'fella". So you take you 2002 chitbox above its structural limit of 35mph, and you wreck.
With all of those worthless boomers in the ICU, how good do you think you care will be?
