Professor creates fake question to catch people cheating in online exam

I don't know why so many people freak out over college. I went to a school not known as a good school, I barely ever even cracked a book and got B's and C's in most of my courses. I never had any problem finding a job, and today I work alongside people who went to ivy league schools and had straight A's and they have no advantage over me in pay or seniority. Nor are they any better at their jobs. In the real world, book smarts don't matter much and it's all about the emotional intelligence.

What a *******. I get you don't want your students to cheat but to purposely set them up for them to fail is bull****. I understand if they use 3 versions of test of the test or other means to prevent people from cheating but we are talking about online classes now. Things aren't normal right now. Just look at high schools using just pass/fail grading.

So in order to find cheaters, the professor had to commit a type of fraud? Would you call it fraud?

I think it was a good plan, but how are you going put an unanswerable question on a test? I'd be dumb enough to keep working it until I got an answer which would fuk me up on the rest of the exam. Happened to me on the GMAT, spent 20 min on one math problem because I thought I was close to solving it for like 15 minutes. I had to fly through the remainder of the exam.
He's disrupting the good students in order to catch the cheaters. I'd complain if I didn't cheat.
I had a stats professor in college who gave us a 15 question multiple choice exam. I knew how to solve the problems, but my answers didn't match the multiple choice selections for 11 of the 15 questions. I did the problems over and over and kept getting the same answers. So I selected none of the above for 11 of 15 questions, and hoped for the best. Girls were crying in the hallway after the exam, everyone's mind was full of fuk. Got the test back and got 15/15. The distribution of scores for that exam was crazy. Well over half the students just guessed at answers for the 11 none of the above questions.

If going 100% online, exams should be more geared towards expressing knowledge in written form and displaying critical thinking skills, forming a cogent argument, etc. Not schit people can just look up.
Is this an American college? Just fuking lol at American parents saving up a useless 'college fund' since their children have been a load in the father's ballsack only to realize you're spending your life savings on this kind of schit. Ridiculous how most universities are a scam.

The exam was filled with questions solely outside of what was on that review.
People were pissed. The older guy we had in the class basically told him off in front of everyone else letting him know that setting people up to fail was one of the worst things you can do in life. It worked though, the instructor decided to heavily weight the grades and damn near everyone got an A-B.
The next test was super simple in comparison as well.

I see what the professor was trying to do but he went about it all wrong, and the professor is just as much of a chit head as the cheaters.
What? Does he believe doing this will bring about some massive change and stop cheating? Lol get real, this isn't a movie.

If you're cheating on courses that are fundamentals to the career you're pursuing then you should re-evaluate your choices. But if it's a chitty elective that was the only course left for you to do especially those horrible online ones I don't see an issue. The college/universites are literally forcing you to pay hundreds/thousands of dollars on these useless electives and then have the audacity to stick you with a dick of a prof that messes with you, that's just brutal.
I really wish the governments would stop subsidizing loans so this university/college profiteering would end. They jack the prices up because everyone and their grandma can get a loan out for it and in the end it hurts like 75%+ by sticking them with a mortgage of loan that takes decades to pay off. And the quality of education is so terrible in some cases. It's a huge part of the reason why so many young people are broke and living paycheck to paycheck. Its still a decision they make but pushed so hard on so many as the only way to get a job so many young people feel it's neccessary.

I had a teacher "on a quest for the perfect test" every week it was some new bullshht.
One week we had multiple choice tests where every answer went into the double letters... A through MM. You can tell me you get to choice 33 and still remember the question???
Each answer had different point values 0-10 add up the points from all 10 questions and that was your grade. Nobody got over a C.
PS 60% of my college courses were pointless. They should teach how to pay your taxes, how to negotiate, how to do math you need without a phone, how to get arrested without getting shot and how to be part of a productive team.

if you have to cheat on an exam then you chose the wrong studies. gotta love what you study
also idk if people read OP but he didn't punish those who answered wrong but atleast tried to solve the problem by themselves, he punished those who went to that problem solving website and COPY-PASTED the resolution of the problem
i'm not against cheating if you do it the smart way (and to do it that way you have to atleast understand the subject which is 3/4 of the work) but copy-paste results is just dumb as fukk
jfl @ looking for answers on a website during an exam tho, exams are made to test yourself and see if you understood the concepts you studied.

Lol at plebs who think beating the system means you’re less intelligent than an academic honor drone
Academics is a small slice of your overall intelligence in any given field.
If you’re a complete autist in the field, the fact that you didn’t google an answer doesn’t make you a more valuable employee than Chad, who did use google
In other words, I understand the material and how to do it... I check all of the answers on google to make sure they’re right. Using external resources and collaboration is common in many jobs. Be real
Some “online course cheaters” are smarter than “honor code students” and vice versa. What matters is how well you can adapt in the field. School is a joke lol
