brb- 1 active covid case (no new cases in 9 days) so basically we are a covid free country.
brb- 1 of the top 5 safest countries in the world (google it if you don't believe)
brb- currently the least corrupt country in the world (google it)

From the outside looking in (from a brah who's lived on 3 continents)...

Hopelessly divided to the point where issues & ideas are not discussed rationally anymore. People just retreat to "their sides position" & then fling poop & scream "fake news" at each other.

Every multicultural country has some racial tensions. But USA's is most visibly manifested by authoritarian, paramilitary style policing which strangles people on the regular. Again the dumb partisan politics gets in the way when a Govt dept is empowered to try and improve policing outcomes & methods & identify rotten precincts/cops (the Civil Rights Division of the Justice Department) Trump dismantled & defunds it because it was the other teams idea. So the issue has gone nowhere toward improvement.

The president was elected on a race baiting platform. Not surprised it blew up again but it has happened on every presidents watch.

USA has walked away from being influential internationally- left the global field to China & can no longer win a war in the Pacific vs China (according to your own wargames over the last 5-10 years). Putin has Trump in his pocket- he grabs bits of countries with no pushback, interferes in your elections openly & Donald is subservient to him (see body language when they meet. Xi has also called Trumps bluff & won every encounter- never met trade goals, continued to devalue the RMB, taken HK etc.

Basically the end of USA as the global power has come all in a rush when it reached the tipping point of a powerful China, a pandemic crisis & race tensions all at once with a leader who I guess is domestically popular enough but the rest of the world just sees as weak, ineffective, out of his depth & easily manipulated. All bluff but never ACTUALLY follows through and delivers anything, it's all just sound bites for domestic consumption.

Basically it's the beginning of the end for AMerica. Over the course of years (mini comebacks aside), it's a slow decline now.

You just need to look at the responses of the majority of people in the threads related to the current topics (Covid and civil protests) to realise why the country is such a joke.

I have never lived in US and all my stays were short business trips, so I haven't been exposed to the genpop - but if this forum is anything to go by, you're pretty primitive and quite honestly at a huge disadvantage compared to the rest of the world.

To be honest, the Misc is not representative. If you put 10 "normal" Americans in a room, there are 1.5 nutjobs. The misc are the 1.5; further right than most GOP, ultra negative incels etc. It used to be a bit broader but has narrowed, maybe with other online forums/places drawing them.

We used to read about the "great melting pot" in school. Sounded like bullsh!t back then, even more so now.

Mostly just glad I'm not there.

Most of the individual Americans I've known are nice people.... However they're all Americans who left the country, so perhaps they're not representative.

Mostly..... The general view is that average American is fat, stupid, preoccupy with guns and pays too much for healthcare because your taxes go towards military costs instead of actual public goods or services.

Also the fact in a country of 300million you can't find a credible challenger to Trump is just astounding.

Bc I'm assuming Europe. Which, in that case they depending on their location have multiple problems that will only get worse in the future. America is huge we dont all live in packed cities.

Most Germans like the American lifestyle and culture to a certain extent, but they oppose American politics and inequality.
