Racism is an underlying issue of the larger problem...the current state of the police.

End militarization of the police.
Hold cops accountable.
End the "brother in blue" mentality that exists and which helps propel the lack of accountability...1 person killed George, 3 others just stood around and watched.

Its fukt.

2011, 3 cops beat Thomas Kelly to Death, they were not convicted.

ALl the years in between numerous examples of police abuse and harassment..some end in death, some dont.

Media knows what they're doing.

There's a reason why they only film black people looting

You give people power and some will abuse it, just the way it is bro. There's a lot of good cops and many of them are black. Looting isn't doing anything to help dispel any of these stereotypes. Just sayin'

Let's assume you are the head of police.

You have 2 different neighborhoods. One is High Income, one is lower income.
Lower income communities have historically had higher crime rates. example, the russain murder rate is like 3x that of americas.

So you see that there is more crime there, and send most of your boys to police that neighborhood. Few years pass
Crime report is done, and its found that the poorer community is commiting more crimes. The reason for that is because there are MORE POLICE AROUND TO CATCH THOSE CRIMES.
This is substantiated by blacks and whites consuming marijuana at around the same level but blacks somehow have 2x the incarceration rate for it. More incarceration -> increased poverty -> increased crime. Cycle repeats
You seem to be unaware that 90% of policing is receiving a 911 call about a crime. You respond to the dispatched address. The victim fills out a report. If the suspect identified, he is arrested.

Its not as simple as police ride around black neighborhoods and scoop up black males on petty violations 24/7 and ignore white people who commit same violations. The vast majority of police reports on crime are initiated due to a victim calling the police or flagging down a police officer to make a report.

I'm trying to post a link with Charles Barkley's thoughts on this but for some reason whenever I try to post it or even simply the summary of what he's saying, I'm getting redirected to an "Access Denied" page. Just google "Charles Barkley Russell Wilson brainwashed", first article. Charles is the realest person in media, I have to defer to him on this.

“We as black people are never going to be successful, not because of you white people, but because of other black people. When you are black, you have to deal with so much crap in your life from other black people,” Barkley said in a CBS Philly radio interview on “Afternoons with Anthony Gargano and Rob Ellis.”

Barkley wasn’t finished.

“For some reason we are brainwashed to think, if you’re not a thug or an idiot, you’re not black enough. If you go to school, make good grades, speak intelligent, and don’t break the law, you’re not a good black person. It’s a dirty, dark secret in the black community.

“There are a lot of black people who are unintelligent, who don’t have success. It’s best to knock a successful black person down because they’re intelligent, they speak well, they do well in school, and they’re successful. It’s just typical BS that goes on when you’re black, man.”
I agree with this and your original post regarding the mediahoweverthe truth of the matter is that there are less opportunities for blacks to achieve wealth. I've worked at several corporate companies and its so rare to see a black man/woman in high ranking positions. It is discouraging and I'm not about to just say fuk it and sell drugs. But many, especially those in disadvantaged neighborhoods can't even see anything else. Blame the media for not showing enough examples of successful, non ghetto blacks. The culture has been tainted for sure however a lot of these label execs (usually white) only push artists who perpetuate the stereotypes. I'm not even from the hood but even I can see how they are disadvantaged.
Do not think that what is hard for you to master is humanly impossible; and if it is humanly possible, consider it to be within your reach.

The mind is an awfully powerful controlling device. Could consciously thinking the bold above be just as much of an actual hindrance? I understand that's sort of touchy feely, but part of being human is perseverance or telling yourself "fukk it, im going to do it anyway."

Being a manager in a rather large company (say 10s of thousands of employees), i get to see what everyone in my dept makes/gets advanced, our hiring practices company-wide, and what we push company-wide. I can say thinking the above only will hinder you or put a self imposed ceiling.

Now, not saying it still doesnt exist places.

I honestly just think it's time to say nobody matters and kill anyone, all races, who gets out of line (robbing, looting, rioting, etc). What use do we have for them? Srsly. I don't see those kinds of people as human anymore since they have no civility/humanity.

I was fired over a black coworker. I’ll cliff it for you.

- worked in the same room as coworker, 20 floors below our boss

-he showed up 30-45 minutes late MINIMUM a day

-sucked at his job, like terrible, we constantly had to fix his mistakes

- was on the internet promoting his side gig always

-talking to his friends on his work phone all the time. Not kidding one hour to two hours a day

-compared our numbers and he was doing 1/4 of the work I was doing

-our company moved buildings and they cut me (along with several others) over him

My mom was higher up at the company, and a manager of a department told her they have to keep a certain amount of black people on staff. Sad.

What idiotic logic. What do you expect, a cop to roll up on a violent and/or armed suspect with a baton and ask him nicely to stop? Surely they will listen with less lethal means!

I agree that the media pretty much controls a majority of the country's outlook on events. Last week it was COVID-19 was the end of the world, now it's barely reported and it's all on this. It's pretty evident how blatant it is when something major happens, and you flip between all the news channels and they have differing views or don't cover it at all. I really try to avoid all politically affiliated news sources and go for the neutral ones.

In regards to what's happening though, this has been coming for a long time, and doesn't surprise me at all. This shows you how one single incident can blowup the powder keg. The next time there's a situation like this, regardless of race, one of the police officers in these scenarios should really stop and think about the repercussions of their actions. There were four cops there, and not a single one stopped and said "hey this looks bad and he can't breathe, lets get him upright and help him out". Instead three of them held him down while one cop just stood there and told people to fuk off. THAT to me is the real problem that needs to be addressed. If you can't get 1 out of 4 cops to be mindful, then that's pretty sad.

I mean what can you do when there there are actual cops there clearly breaking the law? I thought about this and what would have happened if someone just ran and tackled the police officers off him? They would have been arrested too, and potentially even shot. It goes back to the Broken Window Theory. If these cops did their job normally and put him in the car and drove off, none of this would have happened. What was achieved by holding this guy down for 8 minutes? Were they searching him? Did they call for backup? Were they doing a background check? When the same people who are supposed to uphold the law don't follow it, it gives the idea that everyone else doesn't have to follow either.

The officers held him down, and told him to get in the car, while still holding him down. How is that fair and how is that justified? They never even gave this guy a fair chance from the start, and there is no reason you can justifiably say why he was held down for so long. The EMT's told him to get off and he still held him down for another minute and a half. If the guy needed to be arrested for committing a crime then fine, I have no issue. But there is a clear difference that this wouldn't of happened if the guy was white.

World War 1 was caused by the Assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand. That is one murder that directly led to the first world wide war in our planets history. The same principle applies here as well. If people didn't speak up and do something, then this would continue to happen without repercussion. I agree that destroying and looting is not the answer nor is justified. Just like there are bad and good protesters, there are bad and good cops. Again, NONE of this would have happened if George Floyd wasn't murdered by the police.

These narratives hurt black people. I've seen people post on social media about how due to the current riots they're "so sad I had to tell my 5 year old that people hate him because of his skin". How TF is that kid supposed to succeed in life with that kind of messaging his entire life?

Also why does no on talk about how asians have suffered an absolute shtload of racism the entire time America's been a country and yet not only do they have no time for victimization but they're the most economically successful race and coincidentally racism against asians has been decreasing as they become more and more successful.
Completely agree and I see a lot of successful prominent black people saying the exact same thing. Indoctrinating young people with a victim mentality puts them at a huge disadvantage.

But many, especially those in disadvantaged neighborhoods can't even see anything else.[color=red][color]The culture has been tainted for sure however a lot of these label execs (usually white) only push artists who perpetuate the stereotypes. I'm not even from the hood but even I can see how they are disadvantaged.
I do blame the media lol. That's the point of the thread. I blame them more than anything else. I think a lot of the people in disadvantaged neighborhoods that you mention are probably coming from broken families with the high rate of single fatherhood. For sure agree about the label execs pushing artists perpetuating stereotypes. Then those things sell well and that adds to the cycle.

The truth of it is that studies have shown that if people (of any race, no matter where they come from) do 3 simple things, 75% of people will end up making more than $55k/year and live out of poverty:

1. Graduate High School
2. Don't have kids out of wedlock
3. Work a full time job

The problem of old money and nepotism and not seeing any racial diversity in high ranking positions, I think there's way more of a legitimate conversation to be had there than the narrative the media is pushing. I'm generally against affirmative action especially in jobs where health/safety can be compromised by hiring less qualified candidates solely on the basis of race, but there should be money invested into communities and scholarships and programs to help even the playing field of opportunity for people to BECOME equally qualified.

OP doesn't realize 225 blacks killed out of a total population of 37 million black people = .000608% of black people are killed by cops

OP doesn't realize that .000608/.000225 = 2.7 blacks killed per white person which means blacks are 270% more likely to be killed by a cop than whites

HOWEVER.

Despite blacks being 270% more likely to die from cops than whites, black people account for roughly 65% of the crime despite being only 12% of the population. Not only that, but black cops are just as likely to kill blacks as white cops, because in most situations black cops are sent to the ghetto areas where black people commit crimes.

So to put this whole issue to bed, the issue isn't that black lives matter, or that more white people die than black people, or that black people are 270% more likely to die from cops than white people.

The issue is that cops have an inherent bias towards black people because black people commit 65% of the crimes out there. To me, if I knew that 12% of the population was committing 65% of the crime, I'd be extremely biased towards that group of people.

So the conclusion I'm coming up with is that if there is anything out of order in this whole situation, it may POSSIBLY be that cops (regardless of skin color) are biased towards black criminals. However, given that black criminals account for 65% of the crime despite being only 12% of the population, the cops aren't in the wrong.

Black criminals had it coming.

Women make up 50% of the population but account only for less than 5% of police brutality stats.

Are women privileged?

So are you suggesting that black men are naturally more violent and require more force to subdue?
