You guys worrying about Germany, when it was Japan that was the most ruthless nation. Also when you talk about Nazi's policy you should include, Romania, Hungary, Austria, Ukraine, it was a regional coalition.

Current EU structure to answer your question OP, but obviously with a lot more extreme environmental laws, eugenics and genocide.
There is a political theory that Germany is a continuation because it's the biggest and most powerful country in Europe from Bismarck , to Hitler, to Merkel with the end goal to control Europe and have a base in the east, Ukraine to weaken the Russian empire. That it is inevitable no matter who was in power.

Austria and Ukranie weren't sovereign nations. Hungary tried to protect its minorities, at least for awhile until Nazis installed their preferred government. All had collaborating groups which share the guilt of course.

He talks about the alternate reality where Europe would be annexed to the Soviet Union.
Not realizing Europe has been applying socialist policies since the 30s, so nearly a century now without the Antichrist showing up, and not realizing the brutality of the Soviet Union has more to do with being the continuation of the brutality of Tsarist Russia.

Not really, Japan was already suffering from overexpansion in China and Korea, and the USA would probably have let the Japanese and the Soviets kill each other while arming other Asians. Pearl Harbor happened because Japan was under embargo.
After the defeat of Germany, Japan would certainly have had an ultimatum issued by the West and would have been in a way worse situation.


As you read about history, you realize that most of the "what if" scenarios are a waste of time as events have root causes and even making up hypothetical events would lead to nearly the same results.

Actually, Russians held stemcels like me in incredibly high regard. I would have probably had a hot Russian wife and been teaching at a university. Anyway, I am aware of the problems with socialism/communism. Those same issues applied to the Nazis though.

I just mean it would have been interesting if Germany and Japan attacked Russia simultaneously. (I know Japan was engaged elsewhere, but I mean just as a hypothetical.) And yes, nobody can really know so these counterfactual discussions are childish. We only know what happened. It is hard to say what would have happened.

Well I guess Stalin would have ignored Japan and sacrificed Siberia as Moscow is a bigger priority. The same story would have happened, except Japan would have overextended more, lost many more men in the cold, and would have been in an even dire need for fuel and resources. Full of hubris, they would probably have struck Pearl Harbor no matter what, opening a two-front war while being low on resources exactly like what they actually did, and the war would have turned exactly the same way, Stalin leaving Japan and the US fighting each other.
Japan was in a bad position no matter what. They were surrounded by giants and turned Chinese admiration into hatred by pretending not to be Asian and playing the colonialists in the 30s. Being dealt such a losing hand is hard.

Actually things would be about the same. Germans would have stopped killing Jews once they won and their own situation got better. They would be even more well off financially and their people would have even more time for white guilt and it might be worst for other whites since Germans didn't do as much colonizing so they can point their fingers more at Brits, French, Americans, etc . Germany would be accepting even more refugees and americans would be kissing even more AA feet


Think about all the european wars. Does it seem liek it mattered for today which side won? What makes WW2 special?

Never would have happened though. If they had won they didn't have the resources or population to maintain as large of sphere of influence as the Soviets or Americans did after the war.
