It’s not so much about the actual mask I have an issue with. It’s been all but entirely proven that unless you’re a hopeless obese person, near death elderly, or a one in a million immune system disorder COVID is not deadly, on par with the flu. So since we’ve had the flu around us for a very long time and have gotten by just fine with masks (much less the much more drastic measures) why would we start for a new virus that’s no worse than the flu? The slippery slope definitely exists and as a grocery store owner I can tell you I definitely saw some very concerning things regarding my supply chain during the initial COVID panic. I’m not much of a conspiracy theorist but it’s alarming to me how many people just did as they were told immediately without even questioning any of it.

You guys realize the news of the Corona Virus did not start in the US and that countries all around the world are all experiencing it right? This is not a US left vs right conspiracy thing.

Also, the countries with the lowest rates of infections/deaths by virus, all wear masks when going outside. Taiwan for example has the lowest infection rate in the world despite being close proximity to China (geographically and politically). Because everybody just wears a mask when they go out, there was never even a lock down so the local economy just keep turning.

Why should you wear a mask: If you and I are standing across from each other and both of us are not wearing pants, and you pee, your pee will get on my leg. If 1 of us is wearing pants, only some of your pee will get on my leg. If BOTH of us are wearing pants, none of your pee will get on my leg.

Also to correctly wear a mask, your nose needs to be covered.

Taiwan never had a lockdown. Ever. I live in Taiwan and there was never ever a lockdown were people were instructed to not goto work, dont go out to eat at resturants, dont goto the mall, etc. Taiwan did close its borders to international travel for about a month after the 1st initial case, which spread into about 50 cases. Taiwan reopened its borders to travel around March (with mandatory quarantine procedures).

But since 2019 December until today, Taiwan has only had about 450 cases (domestic and imported) of covid and 7 deaths.

The local economy never stopped, people continued with their lives and their jobs. You could still go to the mall, eat outside, goto the gym, etc. The only thing that stopped for 2 months was schools. Now new cases have stopped appearing and the Taiwan CDC has informed the public that it is now safe to go outside without masks, but still about 60% of the people outside still wear masks.

This was all made possible by keeping the rate of transmission at a minimum, which was done with masks.

Wear a mask, stay safe.
