There’s an infinite amount of different situations that could happen. Officers used to be taught on the use of force continuum which went from officer presence to soft hands to baton to gun etc etc. problem is since Graham V Connor exists it also reminds us that every case is different. We can’t always start with hands on. Because what if an officer stops a car and the suspect immediately starts shooting? Well obviously soft or hard hands or pepper spray won’t work. So the officer must immediately go to firearm.

Officers are trained the same way on dealing with a suspect with a knife. Knives are considered a deadly force situation. I know everyone wants to say well shoot the guy in the leg or tase him.

a lot of these cases they are legitimately reaching for guns to point at the cops.

but even if its a guy who has like 10 thefts on his record or assaults etc.. and hes not an immediate threat to a cop when hes shot.. im not gonna care at all.
If hes crazy enough to resist arrest in any way.. I dont trust a guy like that being loose in society with me, my girlfriends or whatever. Better to clean them out

They're not supposed to kill guilty people, no.

The thing is, when you put yourself in a situation where you're getting arrested, you give up your right to get the benefit of the doubt that you're running back to your truck to get a pack of gum and not a gun.

When you wrestle away a taser from a police officer and fire it at them, you forfeit your right to not get shot at yourself.
