The SAS is the grandfather of most western tier 1 special operations forces. Im not sure any one unit can be the best overall but the SAS has got to be up there.

Probably the best collectively with South Korean, Turkish and Russian fielding very good spec ops as well.

The world's best spec ops team is either the israelis who did 9/11 or the chinese hacker squad that can probably crash the SAS chopper with the push of a button as it's inbound for a mission. Just fukking lmao @ thinking spec ops has any influence over military outcomes in 2021 outside of remote low-tech enemies who don't actually pose any threat to anyone except the corporations who want their resources.

Special operations usually means they specialize. Usually they have diverse skills but are geared one way. Frogmen AKA SEALS where their aquatic abilities are borderline not even human can also drop out of the air. To be in one of these units, you need the combination of exceptional physical attirbutes with the drive that is on the fringe line of mental illness.
