That is how I see it as well, which is why I can't even pretend to be shocked by Trump losing.

You could replace Trump with whoever you want, but the odds stacked against him by some of the dirtiest, collectively coordinated efforts to swing public perception seemed nigh insurmountable.

I also attribute some of this greater problem to Trump himself, though, as he should have never engaged with Twitter since the onset of his presidency to such a degree that he only helped elevate it to being a key outlet for information and political discourse. Especially without securing legal recourse early on in his favor that could have prevented the undeniably biased behavior by media outlets.

Twitter in particular wants to both be a private corporationanda public platform, but they have been allowed far too much leash to effectively have best benefits of both concepts, which in turn amounts to a private corporation controlling one ofthelargest aggregations of news and discussion in the modern era.

The verynotionof this should haveeveryonealarmed, but the left has been allowing this to continue with impunity because it happened to service their interests and view points at the moment. Likewise, the questionable nature of the actual election itself with all of the ongoing shenanigans should be disconcerting to anyone who claims to support the integrity of the electoral process. Butagain, some people are content to let it slide because it happens to work in their favor.

In any case, the election being this close with a president who was as controversial and divisive amongst people such as Trump, during a pandemic, no less, is not exactly the confidence-boosting victory some want it to be. And I would be shocked if he wasn'tstill living rent free in the minds of many,manypeople who have been obsessed with the guy as though he personally punched their dog.

Agreed. The R's will need to reimagine their party if they have any hope of winning over those they've alienated in the past week and a half. Trump very well could break away with a separate party and probably would have some degree of success, due to his widespread, persevering popularity. This is OFC assuming things remain the same.

However, I suspect over the next two weeks, events will happen that will further sour the public opinion on Trump. Stay tuned.
