I said "probably" living in chit conditions. if they were living in good conditions then i doubt they would even want to be adopted. Assuming they were in chitty conditions, i'd say the adoption is a good thing. Whether the action can be considered good or bad depends on how you look at it. like you said, they can be improving the conditions in their country. that would also be a good thing but not improving the conditions around them and moving somewhere else isn't a bad thing, it just isnt a good thing. You mention pollution and you are right that they would pollute more but there are probably a million positive things i can say about them moving to Britain as well.

From what I see in the OP, it looks like a bunch of poor village people are experiencing an increased quality of life that most people in western society take for granted

The amount of pollution created by kids that have grown up in britain (for example) probably have created 1000x more pollution than these kids, why does it only matter when these kids cause pollution?
