No clue how you havent broke already, I have a similar issue with my FIL (well step FIL, MIL's 2nd husband). When we visit or they come up, he thinks that its our job to entertain him personally, **** gets annoying quick. I would have snapped at her hard af for ignoring my orders to stop feeding my kid food. The only advice I can give you is that you have a very serious conversation with you wife about her mothers behaviour, she can tell you to go pound sand for a few days or maybe a long weekend but to put up with it for months on end, every year, is downright unacceptable. You also need to talk to her about getting some alone time or a weekend free from her, tell your MIL to take a weekend trip and grab a airbnb or hotel room, or go do it with your family and leave her home.

A (female) friend of mine is Chinese and it is custom for the Mother to stay some ungodly long time with the daughter and husband when a child is born. The bloke had mother-in-law telling him what he should and should not do in his own house with his own child based on some backwards Chinese reasoning for over a month. He had steam coming out of his ears and needed to leave the house often. To top it off wife is an MD. Fuuuuk that.

Real talk I think it's really important when choosing a wife/partner to consider these aspects of their life. If someone is the perfect woman but her family is a living hell and you know you'd have to spend significant amounts of time around them, imo that's a deal breaker.
That said you have a kid together so it's a done deal. Just gotta sack up OP and tell your wife that chit will not be tolerated any longer. If she wants to stay 4 months, tell her the max you can handle is 2. Then if the mom complains about something confront her about it right then and there. If she wants to use essential oils and you see her doing that chit confront her right then and say it's unpleasant for you and ask her not to.
Stick up for yourself man.

Seems like you have a house? If zoning won't allow you to build a granny flat to store your MIL in then time for a "he" shed, as it sounds like you don't have a get away in the house presently. If you have an attached garage AND zoning allows a detached garage then a granny flat is possible. Or alternately a "workshop" or "home gym" for you.
Because I have to have some space and privacy myself. I think maybe 6 weeks is the longest I ever had my in-laws staying with me. Usually it was more like 2 or 3 weeks.

Also, now when ever she leaves dirty dishes i just tell me wife "there's some dishes in the sink for you" - since things go south when i complain, this is my outlet, and i figure it'll make her realize how annoying and how much of a pig her mom is (she already knows though)
Every tuesday(almost every), we have dinner at my parents house or a restaurant, and tonight my MIL didn't come because she wanted to "clean the house, and be ready for when my wife's sisters get here tomorrow), come home and there's dishes in the sink and she's been by herself all night. Infuriating man

I let mine move in because she said she was going to look for a job and needed a place..etc.
