It’s a virtue signaling cult that will be around for many many years

Our Major league soccer team in Portland is now making you show your proof of vaccination card at the entrance to an OUTDOOR event just lol. A bunch of the blue haired fans were complaining about not feeling safe at the games…. Stay home, ****?

They don't see it as a big deal to wear a mask in general. The problem with these fkers is they won't respect others' decisions not to wear masks even when no-maskers like myself leave them alone/don't comment on it. It's literally become some sort of moral high ground in their mind where they feel they're "on the right side of science" or worse "saving lives" by wearing that stupid chit even after being vaccinated. They enable this sneaky government control and aren't even realizing it (like the metaphorical frog in the gradually boiling water).

I only mentioned the gym thing to say that even for me, I realize that it's not a big deal outside of the gym, but I absolutely despise these mandates because of symbolism/optics. If we let the Government bend us over, we'll soon have libtards telling us to lube up butt plugs with Purel because variant alpha-omega5 has been scientifically proven to spread through our buttholes and fart particles.

I'm one of the first ones to call out BS as many ppl here know, but

masks do work, somewhat, for what they're intended for - which is reducing the outflow distance and velocity of virus containing droplets from an infected person, and catching a large majority of those particles in the cloth itself where the virus eventually dies

even what flows around the edge of the mask has far less velocity and distance than breathing w/o the mask and falls to the ground much closer to the breather

a person without a mask will have respiratory droplets travel outward from the nose and mouth unimpeded at high velocity and for a longer distance

masks will not eliminate virus transmission but does greatly reduce it

most people should be wearing masks now in public if possible in anywhere with active outbreaks

however I'm not for legal mask mandates because dying free is better than living a slave

instead we just need good public information / facts

I am assuming this is some sort of psychological virtue superiority flex? They cant possibly think putting a mask on when only 20% of people are wearing them is at all actually doing anything.

Or is this some sort of stockholm syndrome where they are terrified to defy the government and want to get a head start on being the obedient ones?

I also read someone asking why people wear masks in their car alone, and this girl responded "well I dont want to have to touch my mask if I don't have to to contaminate it more and if I dont have hand sanitizer I would rather just leave it on in the car"

Are people really this ignorant and fearful of nothing? Viruses dont work like that
That's because they're up to no good. They're probably stalking people in public and don't want to be identified by their stalking victims/CCTV...

Well, I'm worried about two things.

1) Delta is much more transmissible than previous variants. Delta is by far the dominant strain in Texas right now. And we are still currently spiking, like UK and Israel before us. Suddenly packing millions of kids into centrally air conditioned rooms for eight hours a day five days a week with no mitigation strategies is going to cause Delta to spread amongst school kids like a wildfire. That will brutalize our pediatric ICUs.

2) Those kids are definitely going to get covid at school. And then they're going to bring it home to their unvaccinated parents. As if our 4th wave needed any more help and our hospitals needed to be stretched any thinner.

1)Can you provide statistics to show the delta variant is more deadly to kids, vs the other variants? I need large #s, not an individual hospital or city talking about limited beds.

When can we flip the script and insist people who feel even minor cold like symptoms wear masks instead? Yes it could just be allergies, maybe just is a common cold, or no illness at all, just random. You go ahead and put on a mask while we us not sick go about our day. Oh would that be socially stigmatizing to people that probably don't have Covid? LOLOLOL, while tyrants push a digital social credit score system via vaccine passports.

You know who really hasn't gotten vaccinated much at all? Pregnant women (per the CDC: "pregnant people"). What month does the shame for being unvaccinated start being thrown at them?

I'm saying our hospitals in general are already stretched thin. In North Texas some of our pediatric ICUs are already full, and most schools haven't even started. In the span of a few weeks or less than a couple months, it won't take a large percentage of 5.5M kids needing hospitalization to put us well over capacity.

So the tiny likely hood that a kid will need to be hospitalized hasn’t changed

I didn't say any of that had changed. My concern is that our hospital system won't be able to handle it if, say, 75% of 5.5M kids get covid in the next six weeks. I understand only a fraction will need hospitalization, and that most are likely to survive anyway. But our hospital system can't handle that many sick kids at one time. To say nothing of the number of unvaccinated parents to whom Delta will spread via sick school children.

yes, even pre covid, there was a shortage of nurses
This just exacerbates it
Staffing if a huge issue now, compounded with vaccine requirements, which will make things worse
Staffed beds is the issue now
The system must evolve

1. Delta is all there is nationally, not just Texas. Cases are indeed peaking, but also reaching plateau in Texas. A few states nearby Texas have already passed their Delta wave peak, with new cases declining: Arkansas, Louisiana, Missouri. FIFO. In Texas you guys are in a unique situation, with ~5000 or more Covid positive illegals coming into Texas every day. Rest assured a lot of all cases in hospitals are ones acquired while already in the hospital for something else; many are not rushing to the hospital because of Covid itself. How many kids in pediatric ICU units because of Covid across the US? 200-250?

2. More kids will get Covid, but in all seriousness the far majority all parents they could infect that aren't vaccinated have already been infected. Reinfection is extremely rare, and when it does happen, it's a joke. They'll infect vaccinated parents a lot too, but we know that means jack chit. The kid angle is just cumulative numbers of discovered "cases". They can't revive the fading Delta wave in any meaningful way.

While kids have been infected less than adults, more than 25% of kids have already been infected. So 75% cannot get infected over the next 6 months, let alone 6 weeks. Besides, about 40% of kids 12-18 have been fully vaccinated, 50% have gotten one shot. Can't be much lower in Texas than that national avg. Pre adolescent kids don't have enough ACE2 receptors in their noses and lungs to get seriously sick. You need to step away from media for a month or two.

That will brutalize our pediatric ICUs.

2) Those kids are definitely going to get covid at school. And then they're going to bring it home to their unvaccinated parents. As if our 4th wave needed any more help and our hospitals needed to be stretched any thinner.
Jesus Christ, just because you get it, doesn't mean you need to be hospitalized.

I mean, "you" need to be, who knows how unhealthy you are, so getting it would be a death sentence for someone like you.

Rest of us would chill out at home for 2 weeks.

Pre adolescent kids don't have enough ACE2 receptors in their noses and lungs to get seriously sick. You need to step away from media for a month or two.
Probably sanitizes every object that comes into mommy's residence, and sprays Lysol everywhere.

If people want to wear masks again, doesn't bother me as long as they leave me alone. It's how it should have been, if a person wants to wear a mask thinking they are protected I don't care but if a person doesn't want to then they get the same level of courtesy.
