I don't think people realize that lots of people NEED to work and work hard, meaning they have to spend a significant amount of time away from their families to support their families. People literally flee their home countries and leave their families behind so they can work in places like the USA and the UK, then send money back to their families.
Someone who grew up comfortable and got opportunities to succeed and get passive income, cushy job, etc - it might not be so bad. But if you grew up in poverty money literally means everything.
Financial freedom to me is not having to worry about the bills or going to a job everyday, etc. That, to me, is happiness. Of course there's a difference between financial freedom and money.

Legitimate life satisfaction and happiness is not something money can buy. If it was you wouldn't see rich people depressed and killing themselves. It happens plenty often.
