they're safe as in there is no risk of injury or death from the vaccine? is that what youre trying to argue.

You can argue that they are safer than the virus but to say that there are no risks of serious adverse events is complete bullchit.

And the ROI from receiving the vaccine for a health/young individuals vs a old and unhealthy individual is not the same.

You are exaggerating everything. Protection from serve disease, hospitalization, and death lasts much longer than months. In addition, as of now a booster is another dose of the vaccine, safety profile doesn't change.

Because its a disease that only typically kills the old, sick, and obese. Unfortunately 2/3rds of the population fit into this categorey. That's why its such a big deal in the media. I had covid and literally worked out each day in my home gym, albeit, a bit of a lighter workout. Most fat fuks wont even work out when they are at 100% health. I haven't locked myself at all the past 18 months.

Not everyone is freaked out over this, just been living my life like a normal person.

Only people that should have taken restrictions seriously were elderly and immunocompromised.

You seriously sat in your house doing nothing the past 12 months?

Wait, this guy?https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Ioannidis
Hugely biased and was proven wrong already?

There's a mountain of studies and reviews of the studies where IFR is estimated. Lots of ranges too. Most are gonna end up in the area I said. Of aaaall the studies and ranges, you went and picked the one outlier that supports your worldview, from someone who's also already made his mind up on it lol.

And lol at appeal to authority.. I guess we should give the same weight to opinions of Joe Sixpack on twitter as we would to Nature or NEJM. Appeal to authority is about the opinion of authority, not the methodical process of arriving at a conclusion. We give more weight to more credible institutions, of which put the process of arriving at a conclusion through more rigor. Sometimes institutions are compromised, like WHO, then you have to adjust what weight is given to it. It doesn't change the fact that the vast majority of IFR ranges are closer to the figure I said, and the sources themselves are also of more quality. It doesn't help when the outlier was biased and wrong already

apart from all the millions/billions of people including yours truly who have already had it before any vaccine was available and are just getting on with their lives.................will you be taking boosters for the rest of your life?

locking down has proven to be wholly ineffectual, eventually Everyone will get this virus for better or worse

Wouldn't be having a booster already if the vaccine efficiency wasn't dropping like a rock. And as far as I know the booster is the exact same as the original. Multiple places are already talking about multiple boosters.

I'm sure you've got some long term studies backing up your safety claim? Because it sounds like you are just parroting the narrative from falling into the appeal to authority trap.

We can also put this IFR of 0.15% to the test, with simple math as I used before

651,000 covid deaths / 0.0015 = 434 million

So 434 million Americans already had covid, sounds legit

Even if the Covid vaccine was a pure saline water miscers/anti vaxxers will still find a way to find studies which show it’s not safe and dangerous, and ma freedoms lmao, never change misc.

Imagine crying over a mRNA vaccine which is actually an amazing technology laying the foundation for future vaccines against the limitless number of viruses that can potentially emerge in the pandemic age. But it’s always about mug freedums- if you don’t get vaccinated and get sick then you shouldn’t be allowed in hospitals as it’s only fair - if you’re not willing to make a small sacrifice then why should tax payers and doctors/nurse make a sacrifice for you?

No, you missed the point.

Option A: get vaccine
Option B: get virus
Option C: ensure you don't get virus

Take options C off the table because you don't want to live in lockdown your whole life and Option A becomes the safest option.

If they are the best option why would I be opposed?

That's not what I meant. See above.

No ****. But protection against severe disease, hospitalization, and death still remains strong 6+ mo that after. The efficacy drop is in relation to infections.

No non-live vaccine has ever been shown to cause side effects years later. Covid mRNA vaccines are non-live.

the IFR in the study is a global average mostly based on Europe and the Americas. See the study for a minimum and maximum range.

also your math doesn't take into account when rates spiked, the beginning of the pandemic which it would have been higher because we have no idea what was being dealt with, time periods, better treatments etc. the dying with covid versus because of covid thing too.

also i'm probably going to hold an actual study in higher regard than some armchair mathematics done by some miscer which doesn't account for context.

Makes no difference as everything is genetic material at the end of the day - a virus technically isn't living either anyway until it enters a host cell. If people have reactions, it more to do what the mRNA is carried by than the actual genetic material itself. Your body comes into contact with billions of strands of of genetic DNA material everyday

But also I'm not surprised with misc's hatred of vaccines considering most people here aren't that educated and see themselves as 'wolves' hence the need to always go against the grain, I get it, and I do get the freedom arguments etc. But they are similar to flat earthers protesting against spending money on space programs lmao.

mRNA is here to stay and it's actually considered now the only game in town compared to other vaccine types. This is due to the speed and effectiveness which are critical in pandemics and also their use goes far beyond just being vaccines - they can also be used to treat cancer and there are huge new possibilities in healthcare thanks to these innovations. Unless there is a pandemic/war the pace of innovation always stagnates and this covid19 is testament to what humans can achieve when they put their minds to it and not get hindered by MUHHH FREEDOMMMMM drones who don't understand we live in a society where everyone pays a price for freedom and quality of life

I had covid, wasnt bad.
My obese mother had covid, she said it wasnt bad.
My father with alcoholism and insanly high blood pressure had covid, this was the worst of my family, but he had it for 3 days and said hes been sicker in the past. Both of my sisters have it, 1 a smoker. Both said it wasnt bad. 2 of my nephews had it, both younger than 10, both are fine. My alcoholic, chain smoking roomate had it for 2 days, he was back to chain smoking in no time. Countless friends of mine never had it bad enough to freak over it. From my point of view this whole thing is overblown.. like, i know 20+ who all said it was laughable and they've all been much sicker in the past. None of these people were vaccinated except my dad who was the sickest of my family/friends. So this whole thing is just overblown and silly to me. No need for vaccines lol

Doctors/institutions sometimes get it wrong - they're not gods. And the fact you listed some examples means those are exceptions, not the rule. This is the problem the antivax type can't get over, is throwing the baby out with the bathwater, and not just with this issue either.

To add perspective to your post and to see what I mean, in addition to your first three sentences, why not add the thousands of sentences in instances where they said something was safe, and it was? Your perspective is distorted

how is this a hard cope lol? why are you making two posts? sounds like you're the one that is coping by double posting. see that's the problem. you're attacking the person based on your own opinion yet use CDC as if they haven't been wrong on multiple things, and on multiple fronts. moral of the story is people will have confirmation bias and you're accusing me of the very same thing you are doing lol. that study also has been cited multiple times, including in my own province for public health purposes. you're just dismissing it because it doesn't confirm to what you have read. I'm at least open to the thought that sure it might be higher, you're just outright dismissing it on quite laughable claims. the guy is world renowned and has had many studies, many of which have been cited 100s of times.

What is your point? If you think the chances of long term AEs from severe Covid are less likely than long term AEs from the vaccine then don't get the vaccine. Not sure how anyone could come to that conclusion with the data we have, but it's a form your own opinion type of thing, since there is no long term data on either.

I'm at least open to the thought that sure it might be higher, you're just outright dismissing it on quite laughable claims. the guy is world renowned and has had many studies, many of which have been cited 100s of times.
He's a grifter for the right, despite being a gun grabbing goober. Just like Bret Weinstein

Fact is he already got it wrong. He came in from the start with a preconceived idea about it, said it would probably kill 10k americans, was way wrong, doubled down, and people will still champion him cause he upholds their distorted worldview that covid is just the seasonal flu.

I'm never gonna change your mind on it, that's for sure. But for people who are open to being wrong or adjusting their views, as i've done, I can influence

Meanwhile Biden will make a big new push for mandatory vaccines tomorrow, recommending that all employers mandate vaccination .... despite the fact that vaccination does NOT confer immunity or prevent transmission.

Humor me for a minute and read this article, or atleast the title:

If you extrapolate that percentage to the rest of the country, does your logic change since you mentioned that counting people who died with covid instead of of covid doesnt make a significant enough difference?

If you say that well, thats only in that location, I have similar proof of the counting methodology from a harvard MD in Illinois on their public board of health, just fyi. I think these revisions would look similar if applied nationwide.
I'd have to look into that. Sure it's possible, that's why I say look at all cause mortality. I'm fine with using just that rough number - all cause mortality from beginning pandemic til now, over the amount it normally would be. I don't have the # in front of me, but I can almost guarantee it won't be different enough to change the narrative
