People can live for many years with underlying health problems. It's no surprise at all that only 17k/150k deaths had no underlying causes. If anything it's surprisingly high.

I absolutely think that this chit is overblown as fk, and needs to end now, but you're contorting the figures.

We shouldn't be as bad as the other side, that only perpetuates the reasons that our societies are so divided and broken.

No doubt the mainstream media, as well as governments, have betrayed the public's trust over the last two years (although the problems started before covid). Rather than a commitment to the reporting of information and developments in a free and fair way, they allowed themselves to become propaganda machines., pedaling only the state sponsored "facts" and guidelines, and suppressing any diverging opinions or even data that didn't match with the narrative.

I really do hope there will be some soul searching when the dust settles. Heads also need to roll, particularly in public institutions supposedly dedicated to impartiality such as the BBC.

Does covid-19 being the main underlying cause of death necessarily mean they were healthy and didn't have any co-morbidities that wasn't a contributing factor? That age 0-64 is probably heavily weighted to people in their 60s. a blanket policy to lockdown young people was the wrong approach. further scrutiny of those numbers I think is needed to come up with a better approach.
