IDK how this aspiration to be average ethos permeated throughout Milleneals. Also I always LOL when I heard them (mainly white milleneals) talk to me about struggle and inequality then talk about not wanting to work so hard.

I'd be disgracing my ancestors before me if I didn't work hard and try to make a better life for myself, my loved ones, and future generation of ours.

You can stay your average asses away from me and mine.

It's easier to blame others for your situation in life.

They also think they're special and unique and for some reason deserve to be successful in life. The same types that praise Bernie Sanders and Andrew Yang.

By your logic why is the US not the first of those countries? Clearly the best option appears to be a healthy medium.

You guys don’t live in the EU. The entire system is set up in a way that’s a modern version of medieval Europe… the rich stay rich, the working class lives paycheck to paycheck for life.

You know those stories of Americans that are poor but worked hard and started a business to become wealthy? Ya that’s 1 in a billion in Europe.

Not sure how the f*k or wtf you guys are still arguing about 3 pages later when you both essentially agreed at the very beginning and there hasn't been a discernable different point made since then.

EU = Higher quality of life for average person which helps the majority more

US = Higher quality of life and opportunity for those who wish to grind and make money which probably applies only to about ~10% of the population.

Seemed like both of you agreed on the above and then got in some weird debate over semantics after that.

You do kind of need the people who don't want to work hard. If everyone had the drive and wants to be the business owner/CEO then who's left to be the uber driver, server, tech person, etc?

The system doesn't work unless you have people content with mediocracy doing the tasks the ambitious dont want to be stuck doing.

I agree.

I mean you have to be realistic in your abilities and how much you're willing to put into your life. Some people don't have the emotional bandwidth to handle stress at work. Some are not intelligent enough to handle certain roles or tasks.

Definitely man.

I wish they would just admit they don't want to work hard instead of being jealous and envious of others who are successful. I swear I get tired of these whiny bitches defining my generation.

its just 2 different approaches to human life. same as the chimps at the local zoo they live with more luxury and are "richer" than wild chips, well fed, sheltered, and protected from any harm with top tier veterinarians. but everyone agrees that something huge is lost compared to the ones in the wild. its not as drastic, but the US is still considerably "wilder" than Europe.

You don't think working 10hr days is kind of draining? ****, your first day off is probably needed just to recover.

I would work a bit harder for 4 days for a 3 day weekend. My contract is 37 hours a week, 4 x 8 hour days cutting it down to 32 hours would be perfect.

absolutely. why else would a company do it? its literally counterproductive. keep the poor poor or at least out of sight of the established wealthy.

I love the 4 day week because it cuts down on drive time. Currently work tues-fri 530a-530p.

We don’t start doing anything until 830am and are done by 12pm. Rest of the day is sleep or watching tv shows. Not going to lie it gets boring as fuk and I usually end up finding things to clean up or just walk around and investigate. I’m pretty much the only one that does that though because everyone else has been there for 40+ years.

I worked a 22 hour day yesterday. If people don't want to work hard, they can just say so, but they shouldn't complain about how someone else is making more money or has better this or that.
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.
