He was the most athletic, natural athlete. A single position, single game athlete could be argued for days. You would be comparing Michael Phelps, to Tom Brady, to Messi, to Jordan, or Gretzky. They were all great at their sport and their position but Bo was much more athletic and much more natural than all of the above.

Adding more for the Deion Sanders arguments:
Sanders is the only man to play in both a Super Bowl and a World Series, to hit an MLB home run and score an NFL touchdown in the same week, and to have both a reception and an interception in the Super Bowl. He is one of two players to score an NFL touchdown six different ways (interception return, punt return, kickoff return, receiving, rushing, and fumble recovery)
I mean..... pretty crazy when you think about it. Sanders natural talent and his application of that talent was pretty remarkable.

There is only 1 sport everyone competes in from childhood. That's sprinting. Usain Bolt is the best to ever do it.

Guys that are not fast enough to compete in the Olympics as a sprinter do other things.

My pick remains Bo Jackson for his raw athletic ability but the Deion argument is 100% valid. I wish Bo was naturally gifted at a less injury-prone position than running back. His own strength ultimately cut what could have been an incredible career far too short. Both Deion and Bo have ESPN 30 for 30s that are well worth the watch.

Right. Bo was just an all rounded top tier athlete. Strength meets agility at the highest levels. There’s several guys in the discussion that are also top tier that can be argued but imo prime Bo Jackson is just a notch ahead.

Floyd Mayweather IMO

Guy fought world champions / top pound for pound fighters for 15 years in 5 different weight classes and won every single fight. He had like 3-4 tough fights in his career. Keep in mind he fought top opposition his whole career. Hall of famers in their prime. Unheard of. No One comes close. Especially considering how big of a sport pro boxing is.

I agree. He switched to triathlon in his late 30s and was dominating too. Imagine switching to a different sport after your prime and still set course records. It was insane. Too bad he was banned for sport shortly after he started having good results in tri.
