I don't believe the gig economy where everyones an uber lyft food delivery drug dealer only fans instagram personality and making $$$ under the radar of typical statistics about the economy. I think alot of people were maturing finicially into the biggest bull market in history followed by the cheapest debt in history. Americans are up to their gills in debt and the vast majority operate with no savings. I would not be suprised if 1/3 of 18-34 see no issue with taking loans out and using that as income for the year, some people are legit retarted and do not posses the ability to plan for tomorrow, let alone retirement.
Also these stats don't go deeper by differentiating between those in college/school of some sort and those who stay with parents for cultural and or medical reasons. Those two instances alone would keep at least 1/4 18-34 perpetually out of work and or their own home.

Also the whole "rotting" thing could be sustainable if done right. Instead of wasting time smoking weed and playing Xbox those kids could learn to grow their own food and feed themselves completely outside the system.
I'm a business owner but if I wanted to I could sustain myself with the food I grow in my small farm, and I do it as a "hobby" not as a survivalist or anything like that.
If those kids want to rot at their parents house at least they could start growing their own food with all that free time, it would do wonders for their mental health since gardening is the ultimate therapy plus they would be healthier eating organic produce instead of chit junk food.
The whole neet movement could have a positive impact in society if all the rotters made a productive use of their time outside of the typical capitalist consumerist norms but instead they just rot and consume more .

Forced to live within walking distance of them? get street smart and carry a legal weapon. Millions of people walk through bad areas to get to work 2x a day, get over it.
Again, $15/hr is appropriate for single 20 somethings for a few years. ANyone else above that "status" making that is their own enemy.
Hopefully someone qoutes this with another example of how making $15/hr in a san franscisco highrise doesnt even cover rent!

Its because the economy cannot supprt it. You can't just double the baseline pay and expect the same services and buisness's to operate as they were previouslly. Heres a clue as to what would happen if everyone got paid a "living wage" tomorrow....they would fire enough people until their check books balanced out to where it was the day before.
I pass by beat to chit hondas and misc. sedans at used car lots with a $2,999 sticker on them every day....so I would say check those places first. The places with 10 cars in invetory and some slob behind the desk with cheeto stains on his clip on tie. thats where you get cheap cars, or craigslist. I know that market is red hot right now, as in right now, and only right now, not 6 months ago, not in the past 80 years, hopefully not in the next year, but right this very second. Also who was scooters, electric bikes, old motorcycles.... we are talking about living just above the poverty line...you gotta get creative.

Heres a clue as to what would happen if everyone got paid a "living wage" tomorrow....they would fire enough people until their check books balanced out to where it was the day before.
I pass by beat to chit hondas and misc. sedans at used car lots with a $2,999 sticker on them every day....so I would say check those places first. The places with 10 cars in invetory and some slob behind the desk with cheeto stains on his clip on tie. thats where you get cheap cars, or craigslist. I know that market is red hot right now, as in right now, and only right now, not 6 months ago, not in the past 80 years, hopefully not in the next year, but right this very second. Also who was scooters, electric bikes, old motorcycles.... we are talking about living just above the poverty line...you gotta get creative.
Its not that I want people to live just above the poverty line, its an understanding that people in that situation who arent 20 something year old single people are doing it to themselves based on life choices that puts them behind the curve. To change law to bring them above the curve only fails the rest of us that try and that curve will just readjust right next to the poors once they do the exact same things with their new money as they did with the old. Raising the minimum wage just moves the poverty line up 5-10k.
Good luck finding an IT job, applications are souless and suck. I have been there, but don't take out your job fustrations on me.
Problem with scooters and motorcycles is the increased odds of you dying in an accident because of some irresponsible texting trust fund baby. That and also rain/bad weather.
