If anyone thinks that was a real "insurrection" then they'll be very surprised when a real one happens and people actually bring their arms

To be fair the energy consumtpion, carbon footprint and waste output of a third worlder is over 30 times less or so compared to an american/ first world westener.

The problem here is not overpopulation it's massive overconsumption.

You need 34 indians to match the energy/waste levels of a single american. But yes those places need to pollute less overall China has been improving a lot lately I think the air quality in their big cities improved a lot In the recent years.

Now back on the thread topic this is why everyone should be growing at least some food in their backyard. To lower energy demands and to become a bit self suficient in case chit like this happens

Ai. Yes, the entire thing was foolishness. Protesters [actual protesters, not agitators] should have been smarter. And Pelosi shouldn't have ignored the requests to have a more robust security presence.

If that many people showed up planning to overthrow the government there would have been a lot more weapons and a lot more dead people on both sides.

Started this yesterday and only got about 15 minutes in, but already a lot of great points.

One was about how energy hungry this world is and what a massive number of people don't have access to the energy that we take for granted in industrialized countries.

- 6 billion people use a level of energy that you and I would find unacceptable

- 3 billion people use less electricity specifically than a typical American refrigerator

- a third of the world uses wood and animal dung as their main fuel for food and cooking

While I agree that those 3 billion should have access to more and more reliable energy i think it's more important than the first world starts consuming less.

That goes against the whole economic model of constant growth so it wont happen unless a Major paradigm Shift happens.

The average american consumes a lot of resources, energy, waste etc. It's just absurd even "poor" people have massive carbon footprints compared to the rest of the world. Now when we're talking about the Rich and the ultra Rich it becomes just absurd. Imagine the carbon footprint of a billionare with a fleet of jets and dozens of empty properties just sucking up resources and so on.

We need somehow a way to teach people to consume less and to waste less. Take a look around your house, 90% of the crap sitting around is useless and unnecesary.

All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident.

- They designated A LOT of area as protected nature areas (Natura 2000 areas is the official name they use)
- Farmers close to those areas (there's a chit ton all over the country so basically most farmers) need to reduce their nitrogen output based on MODELS. Not based on any real numbers. The nitrogen emission limits in the Netherlands are around 110 times lower than neighbouring country Germany.
- In some areas they need to reduce by up to 80-90%. In reality most farmers will not be able to continue being a farmer. Which seems like the actual end goal.

Same people in the Dutch government doing this are the same ones telling you that Ukraine are the good guys and help keep the killing to continue. Should tell you something about their intentions.
