If OP had the 200k in cash sitting there. Granted OP paying 28k interest. But if he used the 100k he didn't pay for the car (as he financed 100k) and earnt more than 28k off it over the term of the loan he's infront. Debt is not always a bad thing.
Bro in theory your argument is correct but it looks like the dude is paying 8% interest which is ludicrous.

Nobody is questioning whether or not you have 200k cash. We are stating you are dumb for financing a car at 8%. If you have the cash, its time to lay it down for the car vs that ludicrous rate. Now at sub 2%, I say finance the whole damn thing. But what this seems like is that you put just enough down to get "approved" for the loan at a high interest rate. Thats not it man.

Also....who TF takes the top off for the test drive? Something seems off honestly.

Ok didnt see this now I know youre frauding and cant really afford this car outright. You could have come up with any better excuse. A used car dealership isnt going to refuse cash over a loan they have to do a fukkton of paperwork for. They may haggle the price but its always to better to buy a used car cash.

So not true. Did you make that up?

They get a kickback form the finance company or bank. Never ever tell a dealer you're paying cash; you will pay a higher price for the car versus financing.

I own a classic muscle car and keep it stored at a place that also stores a ton of privately owned Ferraris and lambos.

They tell me the cost of maintainence on these things are like unreal. Like 15k here and there for just basic **** that would cost 500 on a Toyota

Anytime some "Dudebro" gets a used supercar, they end up living in a shack while they make payments to both the dealership and the mechanic whos currently storing the car with no intention of touching it.

If you need to take out a 100k+ loan out on a high maintenance sports car you probably can't afford it.

But sick car nonetheless

This is the advice that I gave my brother when he bought a new Maverick last week. To my surprise, the Ford dealer actually gave him $250 off of the deal for going ahead and writing a check for the entire selling price.

Modern Ferraris are the only cars I really give a second look at anymore. Those and the old muscle cars where you just know that guy has a serious passion for cars and has dedicated stupid hours to meticulously restoring it.

It really makes no sense to me. The dealer gets cash for the car regardless, whether it is financed or not. So unless they are doing something shady from a tax perspective they will make more money if the car is financed because they always get a kickback.

My wife bought a car a couple months ago and we walked out of a dealership because they wanted a whopping $3,600 more the car if we paid cash versus financing. I thought it was bull**** and I was pissed because we drove a considerable distance to find out the price advertised was based on financing.

Which is why I said they might haggle over price.
