In Europe you don't even need a car. Public transportation is legit, at least in the European Union.

On top of that, you can work 9-5 in Europe and still have 6 weeks paid vacation, matenity leave, paternity leave. Oh also, if a company wants to fire you they need to give you like 2 months notice at least.

If you have never been out of the country, dont waste it on a trip to Europe. It's cool if you want a watered down relaxing trip thats not much different than heading to rural Oklahoma. You will get absolutely zero culture shock and you won't have a strong reason to explore somewhere else.

Go to Singapore, China, or Korea. If you really want to go hardmode then do Vietnam, Thailand, Eastern Euro ****hole, India, Nepal.

Europe is cool if you are old, married, or a woman.

my best friend is half french/half american born and raised here. He goes back to France every once and awhile to visit family and complains how there's very little entrepreneurship there because of that and people in and general are fuking lazy. Brb going out to eat brb waiter takes a half hour to even come take ur order even when it's dead. Drives him crazy.

Mexico, most of the U.S., China, France, Germany, Spain, Amsterdam. Probably leaving to Singapore and South Korea for two months next month. Have a good friend who has been to Croatia multiple times and when he talks about it, it sounds like the Western Euro trip we went on with him. Eastern Europe is towards the bottom of the list of places I want to visit. Would much sooner visit Turkey if I was in that area.

Looking at the map Anzio looks like the equivalent of Long Beach or San Diego, so no surprise there'd be hot women there. Living in Italy would sure improve your chances of not being shot, stabbed, or a victim of crime in general. Even better if you can blend yourself into the culture and language. Everyone loves to beat the America and freedom drum but the stark reality is that the overall lifestyle and social climate of living here is on par for being a war torn 3rd world country when compared to the vast majority of other Westernized nations.

There's trade-offs

I have been to Italy about a dozen times and my mother is from Italy. You are looking at Italy through tourist goggles. Yeah the scenery is beautiful in some places, the food is tasty and there are tons of good looking women. So what. We have that right here in the US.

You think Italy is safe - how many illegal immigrants did you see from Africa? They have been pouring into the country for years already via the Mediterranean. They are all over the place especially in train and bus stations. Italians used to say stuff about the US being dangerous but there are places in Italy that are just as dangerous as the US. There are slums in Italy too. Dont kid yourself.

A few weeks ago my Italian coworker was ranting about the immigrants in the Milano station that were harassing him and his fiance. They kept eying her engagement ring and because she was blonde (she is Czech). They were terrified they were going to be beaten and robbed.

You haven't met the mind numbing slow and inconsistant Italian bureacracy which makes American bureacracy look fast. Or the Italian worker unions which can cripple the country whenever they feel like it.

Try going shopping for things that we take for granted in the US like big screen TVs and you will be shocked at the price because of the VAT and other insane taxes. Cars and fuel are stupid expensive. You think you are going to be driving a Benz there - more like a Fiat 500 and thats if you are lucky. Mass transit is not all wet kisses and sunshine.

As for life itself and the orientation toward the family, thats typical Mediterranean culture. Italians, Greeks, Portuguese and even the French are like this. If you go to areas in the US where there are a lot of Italians, everything you said still exists. Northern Europeans are LESS like this but are not quite as bad as in the US. The US culture is descended from the English who came to the US. If you go to the UK, you will see the exact same family orientation as in the US. In my experience Americans from the deep south are more like Italians in their family orientation than Yankees in the northeast.

The Germans openly refer to Italy and most of the Mediterranean countries as 3rd world countries because compared to northern Europe, they are. They dont really have a functioning economy which is why Italy and Greece had huge problems with the banks.

I did notice all of the immigrant MEN. I’ve been three times and Italy is my favorite place in Europe. Out of everywhere I’ve traveled Italians were always the nicest to me. A lot of places did feel dangerous though, such a shame bc Italy is so beautiful. I’m envious of their way of living, it’s just so more relaxed than America. First time I’ve ever watched a movie on the beach granted it was in Italian and we didn’t understand a thing lol

Germany and all of Europe is in deep trouble because of the immigration. Germany used to be so clean you could almost eat off the streets. Northern Europe is less friendly than southern Europe. If you want friendly people in the US go to the south or middle.

This is more along the line of what I experienced after nearly a month of traveling around the country.

Italy is beautiful, but the bad service, scams, and generally rude people made me miss the US. Imo Northern Europeans may be more distant, but they're also typically more polite.

No offense to any Italians, I plan to go back and give it another shot. Maybe I just had bad luck.

I spent a semester in Rome during college. I've been all over Northern Italy. Italy is a glorious place for its past. The art and history are unparalleled. You have Renaissance treasures and Roman ruins too. Venice is a place like nowhere else in the world. The countryside is beautiful too. I don't care that much about food but Italian pizza is obviously fantastic.

But the people are rude and the country is a mess. It's incredibly inefficient. The bureaucracy is a nightmare. It's incredibly poor in comparison to the US. It's not a third world country but it's a lot closer to one than you might think. It's easy to think the close family ties are only a good thing, but I think they are a double-edged sword. Strong families means control. In societies like that your parents and other family have much greater say in your whole life than 99% of Americans would ever be comfortable with. That way of life has huge drawbacks that might not be immediately obvious.
