He’s good

Nothing he says is groundbreaking but from what I’ve heard I legit can’t disagree with any of his views and have agreed with them for years before I even knew who he was

I think he’s a positive role model for guys who maybe have been influenced by clown world … I grew up before clown world so what he says isn’t anything new for me

I really like what he has to say. I know he has to play up to his persona but damn tone down the muddafuka for every sentence.

Regular grinding in some exercise allows one to feel sober in messed up lifestyles. I think regular exercise helps. It makes more sense to straighten out life as well.

Brad, are you dumb?

Tate has bought into crazy Islamic nonsense.

He's done. Glad he got cancelled.

Literally everything he says is useless now and no one should even give him the time of day

I'm still listening to this interview but between 1:30:00 - 1:35:00 he talks about his deployments to Guam and Iraq.

edit: the member of ST6 who started the "DG nEvEr dEpLoYeD" rumors was actually deployed WITH David in Iraq. Oh lawd.

Just LOL at comparing any two athletes without any context.
Being very good at one thing is more impressive (to me) than being mediocre at a lot of different things....

I guess goggins is really damn good at selling books though

By his mid-40s, he had to quit drinking because he was downing a full handle of vodka per day and learned he had hepatitis. For awhile he had some gfs and seemed normal but then he discovered running. He now runs Goggins-style ultramarathons, obsesses about his "training" and diet, and hasn't had a gf in over a decade. He has absolutely no friends, and spends his whole day either stretching, running, or meal prepping. He used to be interesting to talk to, and now he can barely speak coherently. All he can talk about is running. He's a legitimate runningcel, and this is compared to his alchy days and early sobriety where he was extremely engaging and had friends/a gf. It seems just as chitty as other addictions to me, provided you take it that far.

I myself have been addicted to alcohol, drugs, extreme dieting (anorexia), and exercise. I've almost completely ruined my life from exercise addiction an underrating for my extreme workouts that were driven by nothing but extreme self-hatred & a Goggins-esque "stay hard" mentality. It's caused me just as much suffering and social isolation as anything else could, and the same goes for my uncle.
You're not Goggins, neither is your uncle. The extremely biased and rudimentary comparison you can make from Goggins to a drug addict (see: being driven and not letting anything come between you and your goals of getting high) are a passive aggressive way of denigrating his accomplishments: relegating them to the same difficulty and mental preparation of a druggie. That's silliness.

Nothing wrong with being obsessed, it matters what you're obsessed with. The neurochemical elements of this comparison are not significant enough to hold in the same conversation.

There’s many forms of drug addicts. There’s people literally addicted to adrenaline and they HAVE to do extreme sports and squirrel suit glide getting close to death each time to feel alive. They are drug addicts.

There are people that have to rock climb mountains with no harness to get their fix of adrenaline and feeling alive. They are drug addicts.

There are people addicted to sex and the mental aspect and need it to feel alive. They are drug addicts.

There are people that buy 1000cc motorcycles and have to have near death experiences, cut it close between cars, going top speed, and have to do it everyday to get their fix. They are drug addicts.

David Goggins is a drug addict. Have you even read or listened to him extensively. He’s almost died countless times, severely damaged his organs, body parts, but he has to get his fix.
No, he isn't a drug addict. Taking exogenous substances to illicit a neurochemical response, at the expense of your life, quality of life, health, finances, family, etc. is not the same as being driven to accomplish goals or fly in a squirrel suit, even if you do like the adrenaline rush. If the only comparison you're making is that he likes doing multiple generic behaviors that result in a particular neurochemical response, then sure, then I guess you can draw that comparison to almost anything, however loose the connection is. It just amazes me that someone draws a comparison from someone who has done extraordinary things with their lives to the worst possible group of individuals on earth. it's passive aggression.

you either have no understanding of druggies, of Goggins, or neither. idk what is the correct answer but drug addiction =/= someone with an obsessive personality. that's one character trait present in most drug addicts, but not all -- and it's not typically the most important one.

Everyone itt making this comparison shows a complete surface level understanding of addiction medicine and addiction itself, God forbid the kind of hard work and dedication required to become a Goggings.

BRB I'm going to read too many books and indulge my inner drug addict with my addiction to reading.

I don't really understand the hate toward Goggins. He's an extreme personality and in long form, I can see how he could grate somewhat. He's trying to share is story so people who were like him, deep in LDAR, might be inspired to pull themselves out. He isn't seriously competing against anyone but himself and his own demons.

Lots of aerobic exercise can probably help anyone weather stress.

It is not the only part of the world, and it seems dumb to tell everyone to to accept such horrible conditions they need to grind themselves to a pulp to withstand the misery.
