It’s a situation here in FL with hurricane Ian. If your home flooded and you ask for FEMA assistance they first want to see a claim denial letter from your insurance company before they will help you. FEMA is like a last option lifeline after all other options are exhausted.

…and since when do trumpkins even start to care about the environment when Dear Leader was lowering restrictions and doing away with environmental safety in the name of profit? Y’all hated EPA restrictions and everyone against removing and relaxing restrictions said this was bound to happen. I guess now that they can scream “FJB” they can unite in concern. Perhaps the concern is not so much the environment but the chance to shout FJB? Hmmm

I do agree that the railroad company should take the brunt of responsibility in owning this, but that isn't happening. Instead, the MSM and our politicians are trying to sweep this under the rug. The Ohio state government has done jack ****. The federal government has done jack ****, meanwhile the people in East Palestine are left with next to no help thanks to partisan politics. This is a failure at every level of government. The rot is setting in.

Of course. NS will pay a great deal of money in the end....in about 10 years when the lawsuits are over.

In the meantime, if this is not the job for the EPA and FEMA to help with then those entities don't need to exist.

500 cubic yards of contaminated soil and 1,000,000 gallons of contaminated water have been collected and removed by crews working for the Ohio EPA.

This sounds accurate.

I know the mouth-breathers are spouting out "Herp derp...you don't want a federal government anyways, so enjoy", except I think most reasonable conservatives understand that the federal government is necessary...it's just that it has gotten too large and corrupt. They are more worried about trying to ban gas stoves and forcing vaccines that aren't even necessary for the majority of the population than they are in responding to an actual environmental disaster.

It's apparent that these federal agencies that we are spending tax dollars on to keep afloat give zero ****s about the citizens of this country, but hey, lets just send more money to Ukraine.

Even Reddit has some based takes on this. Of course, the post shows it's been removed, but I can still view it.

Edit - Just google search "Reddit East Palestine". It's the top result for me.

And this chick posted about schools of dead fish apparently floating in the water and they are getting no food/shelter, or any kind of assistance and that the situation is way worse than being reported.

From what I have gathered, the ****git Ohio Governor requested aid from the federal government, but has not declared a state of emergency, so the the ****git feds aren't offering any relief whatsoever, therefore the people have to deal with this themselves, even though this has the potential to cause problems across state lines. This situation is ****ed.

So what's the reason they can't or won't declare it a state of emergency?

Apparently DeWine won't declare a state of emergency unless he can get assurance from the feds that declaring said emergency will actually bring relief from the feds, but I really don't know what to believe anymore. Libs say that DeWine won't call for a state of emergency, therefore no assistance. Republicans are saying DeWine won't call for a state of emergency because the feds effectively gave him the finger and won't help regardless unless the situation changes to where they would be eligible for FEMA assistance.

Imagine being so retarded that you think attacking people who are expressing genuine concern for something is the right way to go. I swear Liberals are the dumbest people on the planet.

If you want to see the difference between a politician vs. a person who actually governs, just use WWDD

WWDD
(what would Desantis do?)

If I had to guess, he wouldn't wait on the Feds. State funds would be immediately appropriated to help residents.
He probably would already have lawsuits pending against the Railroad. Subpoenas would be flying everywhere.
He would be on location. Not hiding at the Capitol. Dewine has been a weasel throughout this whole ordeal.

It's sad there are so few competent people in government.
